J's not coughing and just has the tail end of a (clear) runny nose but I picked him up from DCP with a phelmy rattle in his chest. So, I'll run the humidifer and probably use some baby vick's, is that all I can do to help him breathe?
TIA!

If you can hear a rattle in his chest, even if he's not coughing, I would think seriously about making a doc's appointment. Pnuemonia has been going around - Eve and I both had it. She was barely coughing and got diagnosised and put on antibiotics.
Until then, humidifier and baby vicks. Also, stand in the bathroom with a super hot shower running for 10-15 minutes. The steam will help break up anything in his chest and get him to cough. If he does have congestion in his lungs, coughing it up is a really good thing.
Another weird thing they've always told me (when I get phlegmy with my asthma) is to go outside in the cold for a few brief minutes. The cooler evening misty air is supposed to help.
I usually also avoid dairy and stick to clear liquids and have elevated the mattress before.
Honestly, all of this stuff is just quick fixes that will help him get to sleep tonight but I'd expect he'll probably cough throughout the night because nightime is generally when the coughing with things like this is at its worst.
Hope he wakes up tomorrow sounding better!

Ugh, Pnuemonia?? How long of a rattly chest? Appointments are quite the to do because his Dr. is near our home (hour away during the day) so there's lots of time off work, etc. However, if it warrants going, we must go!

If it's a big to do then I would give it a couple of days to see if it starts to clear. I hope it does!

Ditto sitting in a steamy room.
