that don't shop off a registry for a baby shower! We're hosting a shower for a close family friend in a few weeks and my mom and I were planning on going together on the gift as well. So my mom calls me today to say she went shopping and didn't bother to go to BRU because she didn't like what she saw on this girl's registry online. I tried to explain to my mom that the purpose of a registry is to get what the family needs not just tons of 0-3 clothes and she didn't seem to care. Grrr... now I get to go shopping too so I don't feel like a jerk for not buying her at least something off her registry!

I know a registry is just a suggestion or wish list, but I really thought(or was hoping) my mom knew better!

I feel the same way, I wish more people just attempted to get something even if its small off of a persons registry.

It really does annoy me when people do not shop off the persons registry. It has been made for a reason and not about what you like, its about what the person having the baby likes. lol

Not getting something off someone's registry because you don't personally like it isn't very nice. Its not about what you like, but what the expectant mother likes.

If my mom did what you did, I'd shop for my own gift too!

I don't understand why some people don't use a registry when there's one made, it's there for a reason. You would think people would want to gift something that is wanted not what they think you'll want then end up not needing or something. It's such a simple concept sheesh.

My mom is like this too. I know that I have researched the products that I have on my registry and would be annoyed if someone bought me something different than what I had chosen. I know that I generally buy off the registry, or if not, then I will make sure that it is something that the person might need (bigger clothes, 6-9 month or wash cloths) if they don't have a registry.

Well...I think a lot of people choose to veer off registry when it comes to baby's. I didn't register for any clothes because 1) we got a ton of hand me down's already and 2) I know a lot of people are going to buy clothes instead of looking at the registry. Just hoping gift receipts are enclosed so I can exchange the 0-3 months clothes for some bigger ones!

My mom is that way too. Especially for weddings. She likes to go to TJ Maxx and buy something for $5-10 that she thinks looks more expensive even if it's only her taste and not something that the recipient would like.

I've done the "I'm going to get them something unique!" thing before with weddings but never, EVER AGAIN, will I do that, especially for a baby shower now that I know how serious this sh!t is. I did SO MUCH research picking out the stuff I registered for! And it's all stuff we need for our lifestyle and for our peace of mind, so yeah, I will forever and ever buy only from someone's registry. lol

I always buy off of peoples' registries, but sometimes I don't mind if people buy me stuff not on my registry. I've had people look at my registry to get a sense of our style, and then buy something really nice or practical that fits in with our style, but that they felt was more personal. That is fine with me! But I find it ridiculous that someone would buy non-registry stuff because they don't like what is on the registry- obviously the people you are buying for DO like that stuff/style, and probably won't like or use what you pick out!
