TTC After a Loss

Do you ever wonder why you used BC?

I'm thinking about the whole age thing... DH and I have been together for 7 years. We were SO careful and made sure we used BC until we were *ready*. For what?? When I was little I thought you grew up, got married (or met your SO), and had kids. I didn't know I would have to try so hard to have one and then I might not get to keep it. Guess I should have thrown out the BC pills and condoms years ago.

  • I am glad I used it before I met DH. I do wonder some why we waited...

  • I always look back and think what a waste of money all that BC was.  The pills, the condoms, that adds up when you are a poor college student.

  • DH and I talk about this all the time, although I guess we have an answer. If we weren't using bc, we'd probably have even more miscarriages under our belts.
  • Nope, b/c I was a FH prior to my loss and had no problem getting KU'd twice. Dammit.

  • I do wondering this also but at the same time I try to keep these things out of my head or else I drive myself crazy.

  • everyday and also why we started to try so late:(
  • When I was 18 I was told I would have a hard time conceiving due to PCOS. Eight-fvcking-teen. I felt like my world was shaken to the core. My dream has always been to be a SAHM to our kids. We've always wanted 3 kids. Yes, I absolutely love and adore my son, but I'd be heartbroken if I couldn't have more. I'll feel like I've let DH down. He wants more kids so badly.

I've always been more "grown up" than my friends and they pop out kids left and right.

I do wonder if we should have stopped protection when we got engaged (7 months before we got pregnant) but even though I was ready to be a mom, DH wasn't and it wouldn't have been fair to him.

I do wish that my friends did use BC though. Lol

  • YES and I am PISSED at my last OB/GYN that I had since I was 16 becuase when I got married and told him that I wanted to get of the Patch and get my body adjusted he said that unless I wanted to get Preggo right away I should stay on it till we are ready... Then I go to a new doctor and he was like "how long were you on the pill? 13years... ANdd why?  to regulate your periods... Oh well lets make sure we don't have a problem (and was very nice and supportive abot it).... Wish I found that Dr. 2 years ago!!!!  Can you tell I am bitter..

  • I totally agree!  I get so mad at myself at the time we "had a scare" because I was two days late and that was unheard of for me and I completely freaked out.  What a waste of lots of money and energy from worrying about having an "accident" all throughout college!  One of my best friends is turning 38 this weekend and is getting married in a few months afte which time they was to ttc right away.  i just told her to get off the pill now and get it all out of her system.  The things i have learned in the last year...
  • yup, definitely wondered this myself. I was on it for 10 years. I wish we started trying much sooner. I wanted at least one baby before I was 30...well now i only have eight months till I am 30.

  • I went off bcp three years before TTC (the hormones really messed with me). We stopped using condoms about 6 months before and just used withdrawal.

I probably should have realized something was up, right?

Honestly, I'm ditching all birth control for the future. I WANT my second child to be an "accident." I do not want to go through an endless process like this one again.

If I wind up having 3 or 4 "accidents," then  I'll reevaluate :)
