Hands free pump or breast pump bustier??

I'm due in a few weeks and doing some breastfeeding/breast pump research. I originally registered for the Medela Pump in Style Advance Breast Pump based on reviews from friends and the BRU website. I didn't get it as a gift, but planned to buy it soon. A friend recently suggested I get the Freestyle Hands-free version as it makes bf easier when you can do other things at the same time. My questions is this: Is it just as good to get the regular pump and use a breast pump bustier or splurge to get the hands free version. I will be home for the first six months, but plan to return to work (teaching) in September and hope to still be able to pump during lunch or break. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

If that's the only reason, then no, stick with the PISA. I have the Freestyle and I love it because it is smaller and lighter, and I commute to work on the bus. I still use a hands-free pumping bra because those straps that come with the Freestyle didn't do anything for me. You could clip the Freestyle to your waistband and walk around with it, but you still can't really do very much while pumping because you can't bend forward or the bottles will spill. So, to make a long story short, I think the Freestyle is great for being extra lightweight and portable, but not really worth it just for the "hands free" thing.

I've got the Freestyle and it was totally worth the extra $50 to me (check around, my hospital's lactation dept sold pumps for ~$50 cheaper than anywhere else). I use the hands free straps that come with the Freestyle and really like how small and portable the pump is. The other nice thing is that it holds a charge a really long time. I pump 3x day for about 20 min a time and I only charge the pump about every week to 10 days. This is my first child though so I haven't used the pump in style so I can't compare.

Oooh, that's a good idea! I have just been positioning the shields into my sleep bra in the mornings. But this will be great for returning to work. Thanks for sharing!

I also agree...the straps that make the FreeStyle "hands-free" are awkward at best. It's not like I can walk around while pumping with them! I do have ginormous ta tas and that could be part of it...but if I move too much while pumping the shield loses suction and I start leaking! The good news is I only need to pump 7-10 minutes to get 3.5-5 oz. so it's not like I am wasting a ton of time pumping. I am going to look into altering a sports bra to make the hands free thing a lot less awkward. I just cannot see myself using that straps that come with the FreeStyle while I am at work.

Freestyle if you want to walk around.

PISA if you don't mind being tied to an outlet.

I have the Simple Expressions bra and use it with the PISA (DH's work subsidized the PISA, but not the Freestyle. Otherwise I would have considered the Freestyle - it would be nice to be able to clean up or cook with the freestyle and a hands-free bra.

This - works great for me and super cheap! I am on the computer while pumping - don't need to be walking around

Same here. This works really well. I'm glad it was mentioned on here a few weeks ago before I spent money on anything else. I use it with my PISA.
