I got "bra-fitted" at VS this weekend

She asked what size I was looking for. I told her that was a good question since I recently stopped breastfeeding. So she offered to measure me and I took her up on it. I told her I was currently wearing my 36 B's from right before pregnancy and that they were a little loose.

So she measures and says "Actually, you're a 34 around, and I'm measuring you at a D in cup size." Huh?Huh?

"I told her if she'd like to see my saggy boobs that didn't fill up the B's I was currently wearing I'd be more than happy to show her - I am most certainly not in a D (the size I was while bf'ing). And she said "Oh honey your bras are probably just old."

I left the store. If she thinks these puppies are D's, she needs to go to ta-ta measuring school again.

  • So you didn't even try them on? You might be surprised!

As a former VS bra-fitter, I saw my fair share of shocked mamas who then were able to fit in the size I suggested.

  • I agree with NDWife - I had no idea my boobs had become so much larger, I went to VS and didn't believe the woman at first but it's true!

Can you tell me how you measure this?  I was fitted recently but didn't pay attention to what measurements she took.

  • I am one of those mommas.  Pre baby I was a 34B.  During pregnancy I went up to a 34C/36D.  I did not breast feed but my boobs deflated and sagged.  So I went to VS for a  bra fitting and sure enough, I was told 34D which I could not believe.  But I tried it on and yes, turns out I filled out the 34D.  And it lifted me up nicely.  I left with 2 new, nicely fitted bras.  You should go back and try them on.  You would be surprised.

Really? Maybe it's different in VS? Maybe I'll try one then next time I"m in there, but I really don't think it's even possible. They look pretty much like they did pre-preg. now.

I don't definitely don't fit in the brand new D's I got (from Target) right before I stopped bf'ing. The cups stick out with hollow space between the bra and my boobs.

And my God you have one of the most beautiful little girls on the planet! I can't stand it every time I see her pics! She's SO pretty.

  • I've never had luck getting measured at VS.  Actually I think I've only been correctly measured once.  They always tell me I'm a 36 and 36's fall off of me.  I wore 34's for years, but they always ride up my back because they're too loose.

I finally got measured correctly and was told I was a 32.  It made such a difference to wear a bra that fit correctly.

Yeah, but the band size makes a big difference.  If she is saying that you are a 34D then you might have been wearing the wrong size all along.  Isn't the stat something like 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size?  Or something crazy high like that.

I know when I was fitted while PG I almost peed my pants (36G!!!).

  • i will say i was really surprised myself. i just got fitted 2 weeks ago @ vs. i couldn't believe it when she said i wore a C cup. i had the 34 part right, but i thought i was back down to an A or a B. i'm sure VS may have different sizes than some other brands, but i went to JCP (didnt want to spend $45 on one bra) and bought a 34C and it fit perfectly!

  • Pre-preg I got fitted and they tried to tell me that my 36Ds were a 34B. I tried on thE Bs and spilled out the top and the sides. I went back to my 36Ds and was much happier.

Agreed! And it isn't an exact science.. you get the initial measurement, then try on that size and assess the fit. Some people just don't fit in VS bras though, so maybe get measured at a department store.

And here is how to take the measurements: https://www.fittingtips.com/classes/Class-BraSize.htm#takingProperMeasurements

  • I actually got measured last weekend and I swore I was a B- nope she measured 36D (at VS). I thought she was nuts but I gave it a shot and to my complete surprise the D fit me SO much better than B or C. I also was told I needed to wear demi cup bras because I'm full on the bottom but I've got nothing on top. I pph my new bras!

Sidenote- I don't think I'd be a 36D anywhere else, just at VS. Good luck!
