I am in my 21st week and I would like to have a shower but all my family is over 700 miles away and I can not get time off work to have a shower up there. Any thoughts on how I can have a shower or get things that I need for the baby before the baby is born.
Ditto the PP. A shower is something someone offers to host for you, it's out of your control. As far as getting the items for the baby, if money is tight you can go with Craig's List, watch for deals/sales, etc., and limit things to the bare essentials.
Ditto the others. Also- I would imagine that most of your family would buy you stuff anyhow. A shower isn't required in order for people to buy you stuff.

Re: Showers out of town
To have a shower, someone has to offer to host one for you. It's not something you can do for yourself.
To get things you need for the baby, go shopping. You can get some great deals on Craigslist, E-bay, etc.
