How long do you plan to breastfeed?

Barring any physical or supply issues, in a perfect world, how long would you/do you plan to breastfeed?

I always thought 6 months and then started to read all of the one year recommendations, etc. I think I'll feel incredibly guilty if I stop but selfishly, I just want my body back. It's been over a year now.

From day 1 I've said once I get to 6 months, if everything is still going great then I would keep going. I'm at 4 months now and so far it's been amazing, so we will most likely keep going. But 1 year is my max, once he switches over to cows milk, my udders are done! lol

*If* I end up getting pg by this fall, I may just go until #2 is born. I figured on stopping trying to avoid this summer. If nothings happening, I may stop at one year or I might just see what happens. I don't want to be the person who nurses when their LO is old enough to ask for it verbally though Geeked

My original plan was 6 months. I was EBFing up until 3 then I almost stopped all together at 4. I'm still BFing when I can and supplementing the rest...now I am once again hopiIng for 6 months.

I wanted to do a year, but since I went back to work my supply has gone to shiit. So right now he is 50/50 with BF and FF. I hope to continue this way until at least 6 months. From there I will decide if it makes sense to continue. I also have bad anxiety that I cant get treatment for (meds) because I am BFing. So if that gets any worse I will have to stop and get the meds.

A year. But if it goes on for a few months into that I'm ok with it. But I would like to get AF back after 1 yr.

I am trying to take it day by day so I don't set myself up for failure if that makes sense. My first goal was 12 weeks now it is 6 months then a year then after that I will go as long as we are both enjoying it but probably won't BF past 2 years regardless.

Well, barring supply issues, I'd do it for a year, but I do have supply issues and I'm taking it day to day at this point.

I'm hoping for a year. After that I plan to take it day by day. I also want to have a good freezer stash, and I'll use that after we wean.

I'd like to go at least a year, but I don't plan on weaning DD unless she gets close to 2 and isn't showing signs of doing it herself. I'd like for it to be her initiative though, not mine.

I originally thought 1 year, but I've joined a BF group and seeing all the "older kids" (over 1 year) still nursing has totally changed my mind to 2 years. They are still such babies and love nursing so much. I want to give DS all the benefits nursing can offer.

I BFed 17 months with DS#1 so I'll probably go at least that long with DS#2 unless he self weans before then.

I will EBF until DS is 1 year old, then after that I might continue to BF before he goes to bed for a few more months.

I BF'd DD1 until 17 months and never really set a goal with her...that's just when she stopped. I'll probably do the same with DD2. I think 2yo would probably be my limit.

still nursing my almost 22 month old (1 session, before bed). so i can only assume i'm in it for the long haul with my little one as well.

i originally thought 1 year, than 18 months. now i'm thinking 2. but we'll see. the 1 session per day is really my snuggle time with her--we both love it. and ideally i'd like for her to choose to be done.
