S/O spanking & the bible

Did any of you see the Super Nanny episode that was on a few weeks ago?  This christian couple went to a spanking convention and pretty much spanked their 2 year old twins and 3 year old daughter for everything under the sun.  Then they would hug and kiss them.

Talk about  mixed messages!!

    that's stupid.  but i haven't seen the episode.  i can't imagine why their children were so out of control that super nanny needed to be involved Confused

    Ok i'm not Christian, but this seems like the total opposite of what a good Christian is, isn't it??

    Yeah, I saw that. It was sad.  The good news is that Jo was able to show her that there was a better and more effective way to discipline her kids and she stopped spanking them.

    Not defending the spanking, but the reason they went to that convention and started spanking in the first place was because their children were already out of control. They spanking worked at first, but as soon as they realized it wasn't working, they called Supernanny.

    Well, I'm sure that couples church used the Bible as their reasoning for endorsing spanking.

    However, I think the reason the OP mentioned the Bible in her title is because of all the previous posts today regarding spanking and the Bible. (hence the s/o!)
