Nursing Bras...anyone else thinking/looking at them?

Has anyone else started to look at the nursing bras? I've seen some at the stores (Macy's, Motherhood, etc.) and I must say yuck!

I picked up a few magazines regarding pregnancy and 2 magazines are from Europe. In those they focus some on lines that are both functional and stylish/sexy. I have to say that VS is a weakness of mine and I enjoy splurging on the tatas...and after looking at what I have available in the stores I think I may be purchasing the other.

Anyone else think about this? Have recommendations? I'm not trying to be misguided and think that I'm going to feel ultra sexy the first weeks after delivery but also don't want to feel like I'm wearing my Grandmother's bra. (Ha!)

  • I'm going to wait t'ill I have the baby because there's no way of knowing what size bra you will need when your milk comes in.. While I am at the Hospital, my Mom will probably go get one for me when I find out what size I need and then after I get home from the Hospital, i'll go shopping for nicer ones = )

  • Just some things to remember, I would recommend waiting until after baby is born and your milk comes in before you buy any because your boobs will change... a lot! Also, especially in the beginning it's not always a great idea to use underwire bras because they can cause plugged ducts and OMG the pain is not worth the price to have a cute bra. I didn't wear an underwire bra with DD until she was 6 months old.
  • I am going to go to this local independent bra/lingerie store. They have really cute bras and I know they have nursing bras. Just hope that they are cute too! This is a place that professionally fits women for bras which is awesome!
  • I would wait until after baby is born. Buy some nursing sleep bras to wear for the first few days. I went from a 36D at the end of my pg to a 36DD or 36F when my milk came in. Then once my supply regulated, I was back to a 36D/34DD. I'd look for nursing bras that can accommodate a couple different cup sizes. You'll be bigger when your breasts are full of milk and a bit smaller after baby eats. Don't buy anything with underwire for the first few months. Engorgement + underwire = clogged ducts.
