This has been a great pg thus far with no big issues. On Thursday last week I had very sharp pain in my lower right abdomen. It didn't feel near the ute and baby has been moving fine. On Sat I didn't feel well, but just figured it was fatigue; I didn't feel like eating much but got through the day okay. Yesterday the sharp pain returned, same place. I have a high tolerance for pain and this was prob an 8 on scale 1-10. Nothing made it go away except staying in one position so I stayed in bed most of the afternoon. I don't think the baby is in harm but I also don't know if this is infection, maybe compounded constipation, no idea really.
I called the OB this morning; at first the nurse said it might be stretching and the doc may recommend heat/tylenol but then she checked with the NP and they gave me two options: see the NP at the doc office, where she may send me on to L&D or go to L&D (they are about a block from each other). I opted for L&D since it seems like they have what is needed and I'd get more advanced care than with the NP. WWYD and would have you have DH go with you? He is pretty busy at work but part of me feels like I need to say "I need you on this one".
Re: WWYD? Constant pain scenerio...
this sounds an awful lot like the pain i've been having off and on for the last few weeks. its a sharp pain in the same spot on my lower right belly, but for me, i really only feel it when i'm walking. but it definitely makes me have to stop and double over! most people have convinced me its normal RLP, but i have an OB appointment this afternoon and will ask more about it then.
I'm tempted to say start with the NP, in case it is something totally normal (just more painful perhaps than most)... to spare yourself the potential trip to L&D. I'd prefer only to go to L&D if someone looked at me and decided that was best.
and for the NP trip, I'd probably go alone, but if the NP told me to head to L&D, I might consider asking DH to come with me. But he's also pretty swamped at work, so I only call him in when I feel like I really need him to be there.
good luck!!! so sorry to hear about the pain... I sincerely hope it resolves soon!
Because we're fancy like that.
I had the same pain a few weeks ago. Mine went away on its own after about 2-3 days. I drank water and tried to remain fairly sedentary. It hurt like heck while it was here though. I had a Dr. appt right around the same time and she said I was fine. I also asked about it here on this board, and some people mentioned it could be this: I am only 5'1 and defintiely not "plus-sized" but it affects all sizes of women as well. I hope you get to feeling better. If I was going to L&D, I'd want to bring DH along.
