I think I'm developing Preeclampsia (sp?)

I went for my regular check up today. My blood pressure was elevated for the first time =/. I told the OB about my swelling in the past week. It's been really bad in my ankles, feet, and legs. It usually is worst at night. But in the morning the swelling is still there just not as bad. I don't have other symtoms like headache or dizzy ness. He wants to go back on Tuesday to see if it evens out. if not then I will be pushing my c sec up a few days. Have any of yall been in the this situation?

Footnote:: my c sec is March 1st so I will only be moving it up a few days. He also mentioned no protein in my urine.

  • Did he say anything about a 24 hour urine catch? I never showed protein in the office sample, but with the 24 hr catch I showed enough protein to be diagnoised with pre-e. I was told to watch out for a headache that doesn't go away with Tylenol and pain the upper right quadrant (your liver) of your belly. It was those 2 symptoms that sent me to L&D for my emergency c-section.

He did not mention anything like that. He mentioned to watch for other symptoms and to call if anything worsened, like head aches, dizzy ness and stomach pain.

Ditto.  I swelled up overnight when I was 34.5 weeks.  Finally called the dr on a Friday and spoke with a dr from a covering practice.  Developed a headache at this point as well.  He wasn't concerned.  Called back Saturday.  Was told the same thing.  And the same thing on Sunday.  All three days I was taking my blood pressure (had a cuff at home since I had on and off high bp throughout pg).  By Monday, my swelling was so bad I couldn't put my pants on by myself.  MH stayed home from work because I had an mfm appt that day.  My blood pressure was ridiculous but showed no signs of protein in my urine.  They sent me over to l&d for them to run some more tests.  My dr walked in about 2 hours later and the girls were born that night at 35 weeks exactly by emergency c.

  • Did they check your urine for protein at your appt?  I had really bad swelling for weeks.  My ankles were litterally the size of softballs.  I had total cankles!  It was so horrible.  My toes looked like sausages!  I did end up with pre-e, and they took the babies a week early (37wks exactly).   My blood pressure spiked and there was protein in my urine.  I never had headaches.  I had dizzyness when I stood up.

If they don't check your urine on Tuesday I would ask them to.

  • I was on hospitalized bed rest for the last month of my pregnancy so I was being very closely monitored for Pre-E. My blood pressure had started to creep (but was still normal) and I was having increased swelling. They did a 24-hr urine & blood work on me and it all came back normal. A week later I had more swelling (BP and urine were still normal) so they did my blood work again. It was bad enough that they diagnosed me with Pre-E & HELLP. The babies were delivered by emergency c-section 2 hours later.

  • I had pre-e and it started with a headache (similar to a migraine).  My BP had been normal throughout my entire pregnancy and I had been swelling in my ankles and feet for months, so the first thing I noticed that was different was the headache.  When I went in for my 33 week checkup I had 4+ protein in my urine and my BP was elevated.  I was admitted and we ended up delivering the babies 2 days later after my water broke in the middle of the night.  My BP stayed elevated for 2 weeks after my delivery, but all is back to normal now.
  • I developed pre e  at 35 wks 5 days. Went in for non stress and all was well. Then off to weekly ob and the bp was up for the first time and I had gained 5 lbs in one week. So up to that point it was abt 1 -2 lbs a week (25lbs, jumped to 30lbs) The dr was going to send me to triage but said just was there. So she drew blood and sent me home. The results didn't come back the next day (35w6d) by 4pm so she sent me to triage. I had my boys at 9:10 & 9:12. My enzyme levels were up in my bw that the hospital rushed. Don't think I had protein.

I am not trying to scare you but i had no symptoms other than bp ,weight and enzymes in blood. No headache, didn't realize i gained weight, swelling was no worse than the normal swelling. If it were me, with what i know now...I'd asked to be checked tomorrow.
