  I prefer Annelise but that spelling kind of looks like Anna-LICE.

  I like Anabelle (spelled the way I just did but pronounced Annabelle), or Annabelle, not the spelling you used.  Both are really pretty!

  Annelise is the least popular of the 2, IMO so I'd prefer that one. If I went with Annabel, I'd want to spell it Annabelle.

  Thanks ladies! I think we've decided on Annelise.  However, does anyone know why exactly the original German spelling is "Anneliese"? I don't understand the need for the extra e....besides the language translation.  Does it add to pronunciation?

  I like Annelise better.  If you go with Annabelle, I prefer the spelling with the suffix -elle rather than -el.

  We have both Annabel and Annelise (yes, I like this spelling the best...I know in Germany it's spelled Anneliese) on our short list.  I figured I should at least narrow it down between those two, since they are so similar.  That way our short list can be even shorter!!

  So what do you prefer Annabel or Annelise?
