Anyone using glass bottles?

I'd like to register for some, not sure which ones are good? ?Also want to see if any have a breast feeding friendly nipple. ?Any recommendations?

Re: Anyone using glass bottles?

  • we use evenflo glass. the nipples are the same as the soothie pacifiers that they give out in the hospital. the nice thing about evenflo is that they are super cheap!

for lucy, we use born free glass b/c they can be used with a sipper top instead of a nipple.

  • We use evenflo glass bottles too and whatever nipples come with them. We have really liked them and DD has had no problems with them!
  • i like the weego glass bottles. they're glass but come w/ a sleeve to prevent breaking. the sleeves come in diff colors. my kids are still inside so i'm not sure about the nipple though
  • We use Munchkin glass bottles with playtex orthopedic nipples that are supposed to be a similar shape to what happens when they nurse. We have been using them since DD's first bottle and love them.
  • We registered for a couple lifefactory glass bottles.  I can't give feedback on them since I still have an inside baby.

    DD1 born 5/24/10.

    Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.

    DD2 born 5/14/13.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • when DS#1 was an infant glass was just starting to come out in the stores again, so we had BPA-free Dr. Browns and one Glass Dr. Browns.  Now there are so many more choices and cool little silicone protective skins for them.  The Dr. Browns bottle was really heavy and it's capacity was a little less than a plastic bottle of the same size.  Anyone have feedback on the weight of other brands?
  • We use the BornFree and like them. DD hasn't had any trouble switching between breast & bottle. Actually, she burps less after a bottle than a boob!! I've dropped a couple (without the sleeve on even) and they didn't chip at all. Our Whole Foods even carries the nipples, so it's been easy to get what we need.
  • Speedy- the evenflo glass bottles come in 4 oz and 8 oz sizes.

i just googled the dr browns ones, and i want to say that they've changed their 8oz bottle since we bought ours -ours held more like 7oz.  we bought the first glass one they made as soon as it was available, and they didn't have a 4oz size available at the time.  now they have 4oz and 8oz. funny how things like this change in between kids in such a short time!

  • We are using born free with the ventaire system and absolutely adore them (with whichever nipples they came with, level 1 I think, although she is ready to move to level 2).  There are not as many parts and pieces as dr browns.  My baby has reflux and these greatly help with the gas and barfing.  In fact, my mom says she rarely if ever barfs after using these.
  • We've been using a bunch of Evenflo glass bottles from the 1970s.  After having major fails with the Platex Drop Ins and the Avent bottles leaking, my mom mentioned that her good old fashioned glass Evenflos never leaked.  I went on eBay, bought a small lot of bottles with sterilzer, cleaned them, bought new nipples, and I love them.  Best bottles ever.
