Wow, this place has made a stop at Overly Involved with Internet Strangers Ville

To make a "trapper keeper blog" to "keep track" of what we say and to make fun of them?  Got a little too much invested in this place, do we? Indifferent

  • I think it was made to cut down on the PM's and comments like 'link please?'......
  • I agree with you.

Yeah, I think it's a backlash against what feels to some like censorship.  Certain subjects are verboten.  When these topics come up and someone says, "oh, I wasn't around for X, can someone tell me what happened?" people are afraid to openly answer the question for fear the admins will see the post as riling things up or going against the TOS. The blog is meant to be a sort of history of the board, I guess.

But, while I understand the reasoning behind the blog, I have a feeling it will end badly.  These things usually do.

I don't know. JessMil is in charge of it and has deleted snarkiness that has come up. It's not a place where we comment on anything. It's a place for links and posts.

I think it will be just fine. It's a way to cut down on PMs.

I'm sure her intentions are good, but these things have a way of getting out of hand.  Hopefully it won't.
  • Nah - I think Jess will reign the crazy in and if it does go BSC, she can always delete it.

She edited one of my posts because it was snarkalicious (sorry about that!)  BTW, Jess - I deleted it. I'm going to repost it later.

Yep.  It's a little too Burn Book for me.  I don't really think it's a way to cut down on PMs.  It's a way to keep track of all the stupid things people say so you can throw it in their face later.

  • no matter what anyone says to justify it, i agree with the op.
  • For me, I think it's a way to cut down on all the "linky?" or "can some one PM me what happened?" that always gets asked when drama is rehashed.

I will get a good chuckle when the very same people in this thread (or any other thread) that are saying the blog is a way to "keep track" of people ask for links or a PM the next time they miss out on drama.  Because I have a feeling, that it will happen.

It's one thing to ask what someone is talking about and asking for a link, but a very different thing to create a blog to document things people have said.

It's a bit, um, taking things a little too seriously, don't you think?

Meh, no different than someone going to their "My Posts" and copying and pasting the link in the first place.  Or having Larks come up with her Cliff Notes version that everyone seems to love so much.  It's a public message board.  Whatever is said here is out on the internet- it's there for people to read.  This way, it's all in one spot and we don't have to see the endless - "link please" or "can someone send me a PM" or the "what happened? I missed it!!!22111!!"- stuff.

Like pp said, Jess is the admin and will edit out the BSC stuff.  I don't think it will get nasty (I hope that it doesn't) but if it does, then Jess will delete it.

For me, I'm just so sick of people asking a gazillion times for links or CN of the drama that they miss.  If this blog cuts down on even some of that- then it will have done it's job.

Yep. That's funny though, I was trying to explain it to DH when I first looked at it and he said..."So it's a Burn Blog?"

  • Meh, I don't mind it too much.  But that's just because I'm not on it.  I do think it is a little burn book-ish.  But I think Jessmil is pretty good about not being BSC.

I can tell you that it will always be in my mind when I'm posting.  And it will probably keep me from posting stuff that I would otherwise post.

yeah- it's pretty different and for the record, i think larks notes are weird too.

  • True. I thought about it & took myself off the follow list. It's a bit to much.

Something like this was created on the Knot awhile back & it got really ugly. I don't want to be apart of that.
