NOOOOO! MY Kitchen Aid died :(

I know, it's old, it was bound to happen...but this one is special.  It's the mixer my Mom used when she started what was to be a successful little restaurant/bakery and she was locally famous for her desserts.  She passed it on to me...and I just think it's magic.

Thank you, dear mixer, for providing me many years and many lbs. of sweet happiness... RIP :*(

and on a related note...anyone seen a good deal on a Kitchen Aid recently?

  • If you really want to keep that one, I believe Kitchen Aid reconditions them.

  • OH NO!!!!!   Costco always has kitchenaids - the Pro. 5.   I LOVE my kitchenaid mixer - I feel so bad for you right now.

  • Check your local, independently owned appliance stores.  I just got one at Christmas.  My MIL gave me the smallest one with a tiny motor--it came in Macy's wrapping so I knew she overpaid for it.  I returned it and took the cash to a local store.  They had one of the super 575 watt ones that had a tiny little scratch on it so they sold it to me for $200.  That model is normally $450.  It's one of the granite colored ones so you can't even see the scratch but I got a steal of a deal.

  • Oh no!! I LOVE my kitchenaid. I agree with the pp, see if you can get it fixed. If not, one of the pros to getting a new one is that they come in all sorts of cute colors.

Kohls has them, and they always offer 30% online whenever they have their coupons if you have a card.

call Kitchen Aid--they should be able to help or try that good old hardware store, they might be able to repair it

  • You can just buy a new motor. My mom had one that was 30 years old. She got a new motor, used it for another couple of years, and donated it to our old church. I believe they are STILL using it to make stuff for the food sales.

  • Oh that is such a bummer :(  I have my mom's old Kitchen Aid too (that we used when I was growing up to make cookies together) and it also has a special meaning to me.  It may be 35+ years old but I will be sad is/when it stops working!  Hope you can get yours fixed.

  • Oh no!   :(

If you're not able to get it fixed (great idea, ladies!!!), then be sure to at least take a great photo of it, get a fabulous frame for the photo, and hang it in your kitchen somewhere special.  You might not have the actual mixer, but you'll then always have it's inspiration and "spirit" with you.  I'm guessing just seeing a photo of it would trigger the same good feelings.  :)

Ah, the KitchenAid Mixer - it's like a member of the family.  I remember the day I ordered mine, and finally felt "grown up" b/c I had one of my very own! Hope you're able to get it fixed and up and running again soon!
