I suffered with major oversupply issues, and have been cutting back my pumping sessions down to 4 times total in 24 hours. I could probably only do 3....but I'm scared that it might totally tank my supply.
Just curious, how long had it been since you pumped or fed baby? How long did you pump for? Do you usually get that much or is this the first time? Do you take something to boost your bm? I have never come close to that much, so I'm just wondering how you got that much. Thanks!

DOOD - give me your boobs. I'm trying to pump for Dee's first sleepover and I can't seem to get enough to calm my nerves that I won't get a wakeup call @ 2am 'cause they've run out of boobie juice.
I'm just naturally blessed with a good supply. I wish I had "secrets" I could give you all, but I do absolutely nothing to "help" my supply, it just is the way it is. I exclusively pump with a Medela PISA and I think that may have something to do with it. I've gotten this much before when I go 12 hours without pumping, but it still amazes me. Typically, I go 8 hours overnight, and get 16-18oz when I wake up and pump before work.
My "advice" would be to make sure you have a good pump I guess. But even right after I delivered her, the nurses commented that I could "feed the whole ward". So who knows....

I have the Medela PISA pump too! I only pump 8oz a time. I BF in the monrings and night and pump during the day! I've always had that bump! It's all about your body......
do you EP or do you BF LO? I can get a 8oz or so from one boob after like 8hrs but i'm starting to get engorged at that point and wouldn't wanna have to wait any longer. i typically Nurse DS from the other side over night at like 3am and then again at like 715 before I leave. Just wondering because if your feeding LO and pumping that much maybe you should consider Milk Banking.
BTW I LOVE MY PISA and don't know how people live without it.
i call BS. my lactation consultant told me the most she has EVER EVER seen a woman pump was 18 oz at one time. i don't even think your boobs can hold that much. that's almost half a gallon. srsly.

Ha, call it what you wish. I filled up 4 - 6oz Dr. Browns bottles. (a bit over 6 in each actually, why I said 25). I realize it's a lot, but didn't think it was completely unheard of. I have an oversupply issue, and don't pump overnight. I had gone 12 hours though, so it's not a normal output for me. Typically my first pump of the AM is 16-18oz, going 8 hours.
The most I've gotten was 14 oz, when I EP and that was first thing in the morning after not pumping for about 10 hours. Now thats she's back on the boob, I'm lucky to get 10, and usually get closer to 7-8.

Wow. I'm jealous. I would still be bfing if I could of done that instead of giving formula while I work. Pumping was too frustrating when I only got 3-5 oz each time.

Me too.
IMPRESSIVE!! The most I've pumped in one setting is 16oz and I usually have a great supply.
Nice work!

I doubt she's making it up. That would be a stupid thing to lie about.
um, wow.
