I got banned from Kellymom!

bwahahahahaha.

I was posting things in sleep threads like 'it's OK to stop nursing your 2 year old at night... even if they are not happy about it".  And "it's OK to cut down nursing your 18 month old.. even if they are not happy about it".  Apparently I wasn't posting in the right 'spirit' because they think that any time you refuse to nurse and they cry, it's CIO (even if you are holding them).

  • wow!  I think of you as one of the primary bf advocates here so it's really crazy they banned you!

  • It's seriously INSANE over there.  There was a woman who was nursing all night long (and couldn't cosleep for some reason that I can't recall).  She was literally suicidal from sleep deprivation.  Like - falling asleep driving.  Violent thoughts, etc.  and I told her to go stay in a hotel overnight and they pm'd me asking me to change my response because it was not gentle enough for the child!

I am so so against CIO but being held by daddy while mommy sleeps is NOT cio.  Wankers.

  • LOL...wankers indeed!

no way is it gentle for the child if mama is having violent thoughts.  oy.  poor girl-I thought my sleep issues were bad!

  • No big surprise, eh, LOL? You've been headed down the path to being banned for a while if I recall...

They're too much for me anymore (same with MDC.) I'm as pro-BFing as it gets, but c'mon now...let's get realistic. There's having ideals and goals, then there's being so dogmatic about something that you let common sense get in the way.

  • G-d forbid there be a voice of reason there.
  • Wow!  I never go there because it has always seemed one sided.  Now I know why.  I don't always agree with you, but if I only wanted my opinion, I would just post in my head.

Totally.  I didn't do much to avoid it.  Spoke my mind.

I don't do much with MDC either.  Except follow the links from TWWS.

  • I'm very pro-bfing, but if you are having suicidal thoughts, it's time to put away the boobies.

DD is going to get cut off soon. Too many teeth. I think 15 months is a pretty good run.

This.  And falling asleep at the wheel??  Sure, that makes way more sense!  Ridiculous.

  • Well, you're a rebel, lol!  But seriously I don't like that "big brother" atmosphere there and on mothering.  Seriously can't people deal?  I think those forums are weird that way.  Cultish...and I'm totally pro breastfeeding.  They can't stand to hear other points of view.

It is!   just cut DD down to 3x/day and I'm much saner now.  I need to nightwean though.

  • kellymom and MDC is why I am 1000% against "moderators"...
  • I can see it in the papers now "Mother falls asleep at wheel, killing herself and her baby (who was breastfed, thank goodness!) - was it suicide or the violent thoughts that caused this" Tongue Tied

Ugh... as pp said, it's totally their loss.  I loved JoeBunny's statement, too, that if I only wanted to hear one opinion, I'd post in my head - haa haa :0

Let us know if you want us to post anything over there for you - we can keep your spirit going, getting banned one at a time Big Smile

  • LOL!!!  kellymom and MDC are so extreme it hurts!  They are why many people outside the AP community think all AP parents are martyrs to spoiled brats!  I am very pro-bf and plan to nurse Emma for a long time yet (especially if she doesn't outgrow her dairy and soy intolerance) but if I start getting violent from sleep deprivation from nursing all night we'll change what we do!  I believe in gentle parenting and bfing, but if bfing is sending you over the age that's not good for anyone!

  • WELL, you're so crazy, Zenya.  Obviously it's better to kill your child in a car accident where you fall asleep at the wheel.  AT LEAST they were BF on demand.  Or you should totally kill yourself while driving - I mean, better to have had a mother who BF'd you all night, no matter what, while you had one, over having a mother your whole life.

I mean, really.  It's one thing to be dedicated to parenting ideals; it's another to be a total f*cking lunatic.  And that sounds loony to me.

  • I gave up on that site when DD2 was around 3 months.  The responses I was getting were way harsh to me, so I stopped visiting the boards.
  •  I am super pro-bfing.  However call me crazy but a sane mom is slightly higher on my list of priorities than breastmilk!

Rebecca- mom to 3 kids: DS born 2005, DD born 2007 and DS born 2010.
  • That's why I only go there for the factual info, like breastmilk storage, etc.

I BFed my first two for a year each and plan to do the same thing for #3, am 3 months in now.  BUT I'm also a hard ass, they are night weaned no later than 6 months and I wean at a year.  You can be 100% devoted to BFing and not need to have your child latched to you all day.  I really wish that kellymom was just a BFing website, not BF/extreme AP.

  • I got warnings for that and haven't been back since!  :)
