Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Suddenly waking at 2 and 3am at 18 months?

I think DS is trying to drive me mad! He has started waking at 2am and 3am the last 3 nights! He is not sick, he was cutting 4 teeth two weeks ago, but they have already come in. I don't know but it is killing me! His crib is still in our room because we don't have anywhere else to put him right now. I am on day shift right now so I have to get up at 4:45 am to get ready for work and his early morning wake-ups are killing me! I change his diaper, lay him back down, and go lay on the couch but can't fall back asleep. I hope this doesn't last long.

  • Hopefully it's a very short phase.

Have you tried just giving gas drops, turning him on his side, or just petting him?  Maybe not changing him or picking him up would allow him to go back to sleep easier?

Either way, it blows having to get out of bed at 2 & 3 am.

Yeah, I didn't think about gas. Good idea. And I attempted letting him cry and not picking him up, but he will stand in his crib and scream. I am pretty sure it's because he knows I am lying there in the bed in the same room. Our living arrangement sucks right now.

It could be worse...DH works 2-11 and doesn't like to be gotten up at 6 am when we get up...so he's in the nursery in the twin and Jack and I sleep in our bed.  We've done this since Jack was 3 months old.  No

  • My son has been doing this too, I totally feel your pain! For our sakes I hope it's a phase that passes quickly.
