DH broke our wedding champagne glasses...

and i'm SOOO upset.  I know it was an accident but i'm crushed.  I keep telling myself we can just go buy a really nice pair to have...but it's not the same!! We were just married last July 4th and I wanted to at least use them for our one year anniversary...being pregnant doesn't help this situation much!  Waaa. Okay vent over...

  • I'm sorry, I would be really upset to, not at him just in general.

  • This is why we just buy IKEA wine and champagne glasses.  We have too many parties where glasses get broken and when they're IKEA, neither of us really cares how many end up in the trash at the end of the night!

  • I'm so sorry! I broke one of mine two days after our wedding, I was really sad! It'll be okay  *Hugs*
  • Oh I totally feel you! I am so sorry!  This wasn't our wedding glasses but my shoes from my wedding (may seems silly) but I was saving them to get dressed up and wear on our 1 year anniversary. Well while dh was gone in boot camp one of my dogs found them! Yah neither dog has ever touched a shoe before this or since but one of them deemed it necessary to destroy them! This is what I had left. Needless to say it was the first time dh had ever been gone longer than a few days and I locked myself in the bathroom and cried for an hour!

I'm lurking, but had to say, I feel for you, my dog did this to my wedding shoes a month BEFORE my wedding!!!!!  Not quite as bad, and I was able to get them fixed by a cobbler beforethe big day.

  • Thanks ladies for making me feel better...I was bawling when I wrote my OP but now the hormones have calmed down and am feeling better..it's strange sometimes how attached we can get to certain items!  Anabell, i'm SO sorry! That's something my dog would do-I swear our dogs just know when something's special to us!

Holy crap! I am so glad you were able to get them fixed! I don't think it would have bothered me as much now but being overly emotional at the time from dh being gone for the first time ever really made horrible!

I know your hubby did it on accident but I say you tell him to take you out on a date and go pick out new ones and make a new memory with them so they are special! Big Smile I would have cried as well though!

  • Aww that would REALLY upset me as well!  Like previous poster said, I wouldn't be upset with DH cause it was an accident...but as hormonal as I am, I might cry a little.  Especially since, for some reason DH and I spent a lot of time choosing our toasting flutes and cake cutting set.  We too plan on using ours on our anniversary!  Hugs I'm sorry!  I think what you should do, it keep a piece of it and have in tumbled in a rock tumbler so its not sharp, that way they are not gone gone....are they crystal?  You could even have them sand blasted or cut glass blasted and make a cool pendant out of them.  Haha....can you tell my DH is a jeweler....guess my point is save a couple pieces.  If they are crystal...you can have a pair of earrings made out of them quite easily or a pendant.

  • I worried about this happening when we got married, so we got pewter ones :) ? (as a child DH and his brother broker their parents toasting flutes and it is mentioned ALL THE TIME even though it was like 20 years ago) That is such a bummer, I agree with trying to save some pieces and have something made from them.?
