I know it depends on head control, but just curious on the average age...

I think around 3.5 months. He hated facing in. Now he actually likes both and will fall asleep facing in.

He has always had really great head control tho.

I don't use a carrier much, but I just started using it facing out last weekend -- so about 3.5 months

About 3 and a half months, as soon as he could hold his head up well enough.

We've always faced her forward. She fusses if facing backward. But, we didn't start using it until she was about 3 months b/c I had a c-section and couldn't hold her in it.

I think he was about 3.5 months when we faced him forward for the first time (just a couple of weeks ago). We waited until he had good head control, and now he loves it.

I just got my Bjorn in the mail today! Whoohoo. LO seems to really like sitting facing out and looking around at the world. He is almost 4 months old. He has good head control.
