Repost from 2nd tri -- Sorry this is a little long but I really need some opinions please!
I'm
really torn trying to decide between the Chicco Keyfit 30 or the Peg
Perego Primo Viaggio for my infant car seat. If we go with the Keyfit
we will be getting a snap n go to fit it and using that. We have the
Peg Perego Pliko P3 stroller so if we got the Peg car seat, it would
snap in to there and we wouldn't need the extra snap n go. But its also
much more expensive... Like at least $100 more. Plus the cost to get a
second base is more too.
Whatever we decide will be going on our registry and shower invites just went out so I need to make up my mind!. There are a few people who are going to want to buy larger items but the Peg Perego car seat is too expensive for most.
I
asked my mom her opinion and she said she could buy us the Peg Perego
car seat as her present for the shower. She was originally planning on
buying us the BOB Revolution stroller so it would be instead of that
and we'd get the stroller later on.
If we go with the Chicco Keyfit, I'm pretty sure one of my aunts will want to buy it for us, but we'll be using a snap n go and it isn't compatible with the Pliko P3 stroller we have, or the BOB stroller we want to get.
Thoughts? What would you do??
Re: Keyfit Vs. Primo Viaggio
Personally, I hated the Peg seat. Yes, all seats are heavy but this thing was a monster. I just didn't like it at all.
However, I am not a fan of Peg strollers either.
Just an FYI: The Peg seat also expires in 5 years compared to the other seats that expire in 6. So, if you plan on having more kids this may or may not come into play.
I have used a friend's Chicco, and I loved it.
If fabric quality if what is making you consider the Peg car seat - look at the Teutonia T-tario 32 or 35. It is basically a graco snugride 32 or 35 but with much better padding, fabrics and accessories included. It works with anything that the graco is compatible with. I really like the Chicco, but hated the tiny sunshade.
Granted it won't work with the Peg stroller, but it will work with the BOB.
I had the same debate two years ago for my daughter. I ended up getting the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio car set. I used coupons on BRU and saved quite a bit. I agree with PP that it is heavier but I thought the SIP cushions were better and felt comfortable with the security and safety aspect. We found a base at a kids consignment store for $15 so I'd keep your eyes open.
It held up great after being toted around for a year and look forward to using it again with baby #2.
Best of luck!
Wow! Really??
How did you find this out? This is exciting news to me!
