XP from 3-6: Chicago Moms waiting for SS number

 DS was born 10/23 and we STILL do not have his SS number.  Anyone else have this problem?  I'd like to have it before doing taxes otherwise I believe we have to do an addendum later. 

I'm thinking of going to the Social Security office today to see if they can give me his SS number.  Anyone do this and have any idea if it will work?  Anything I should bring with me to the SS office other than his birth certificate?   THANKS!

    I did not get my son's til he was about 4 months old, I called before had to the SS office and they were not helpful, sorry you may just have to wait it out.

    My DS was 15 weeks before we got ours, and we had to go to the SS office to get it the number, the card then came in the mail 3 weeks later.  We needed the number for insurance. They just said that they were under staffed and behind.

    I was able to get his number from the SS office today!  Crazy that it takes so long.  They said the card should arrive in the next 2 weeks.  The clerk at the SS office said that she hasn't seen any numbers in yet for babies born after October.
