Have any of you had second thoughts after naming your baby? I didn't at all with my first son, but I had to go in for an early emergency delivery with my second, and I don't know if it is because we felt rushed to choose a name or what, but I find myself wondering if we made a bad choice for his name - it just doesn't seem to be 'sticking'. I feel horrible because we mostly call him 'the baby' (or accidentally call him my first sons name), and when I tell people his name I don't get any kind of positive reaction (most people don't know how to spell it or haven't heard of it). We named him Emmett Alexander, by the way...
Re: second thoughts after naming your baby?
How old is he? Could you start using his middle name?
FWIW I like the name!
I went through a similar thing after my DD was born but to be honest it only lasted a short time and now I love it again mainly because it has become her own
I love Emmett FWIW too!
This.
This. I love it.
after anovulatory diagnosis and TTC for 1 1/2yrs with several medicated cycles and one chemical pregnancy, we have our first bundle of joy!

Yes, I had second thoughts. I didn't know what I was having going in, and we weren't positive on a girl's name until I was in labor. Plus, the name we chose really wasn't one of the front runners, so no one in our family had really heard us mention it either.
I felt for a while (so did my mom) that maybe it wasn't the right name, plus we did have trouble in the beginning spitting it out - it wasn't at the forefront of our minds yet.
Now, I love it.
It's so hard to name an entire person. There is a lot emotionally that goes into it.
This time, we found out what we're having and already have a name - although I'm sure we'll call her by her sister's name accidentally all the time.
Hang in there. It will feel better to you. And I agree with everyone else - it's a great name.
We had chosen a certain family name and had been calling DS that in utero when SIl delivered and named her son that (same last name.)
So we had to change ours in the last 2 months of pregnancy and when he was born, we kept calling him the first name by mistake.
It took about a month after he was born, but his name finally became his own and we like it.
I think it is natural to have second thoughts.
My DD#2 is still called her nickname of Biscuit or baby. I've maybe have even said her name twice to her or her sister. It now seems weird to call her by her name. I dont' second guess it but it is akward.
BTW- I love Emmet Alexander!
Three Girls: Bits 2/08 Biscuit 10/09 & Sweet Chuck 2/12
One Favorite son: Suishy Smalls 6/14
And another Princess coming 7/16
You could try to change it if you really feel it doesn't fit him....some states allow changes within the first year or so.
BTW, I really like the name your chose.
Heather
I agree.
