Babies: 3 - 6 Months

anyone still using a swing?

at 5.5 months ??   I set E in ours after her first bottle so I can make myself a cup of coffee and clean bottles in the morning.  Other than that we don't use it ... and I don't turn it on... she just sits in it and plays with the little toys in front.  It's just so big and taking up so much room.  I want to just put it away ...  convince me it's time to give it up?  Or to keep it out?

  • Haha Jackson is going to be 4 months this weekend and is 18 lbs...we still use it, but I swear, the swing cringes everytime I bring my tank of a child over to it.

  • We're still using ours.  It is the only place he will STTN.  We don't turn it on much though.  Luckily, he's only 14 lbs so he's no where near outgrowing it.  He may be sleeping in that thing until he goes to kindergarten.

Haha! Same here, but MurphyLove still sleeps in his swing every night!  He's had lots of problems with reflux and congestion (this crazy winter weather is giving all of our sinuses something to complain about) so the pedi said he can sleep in it as long as he's comfortable.

  • Morning!

DH and I were just talking about putting the swing away last weekend. We hardly ever use it and it takes up major space in our living room. It makes me kind of sad though. I can still remember when we first put him in it after coming home from the hospital. He was so tiny and now his feet hang over the side Sad

I don't know what to do!  So sad :(

  • We don't use it. She just doesn't like it anymore. I think it bores her...she prefers to be in the jumperoo, exersaucer, or even the activity mat. She likes kicking and moving around and not being confined. We put ours away last week, and I was relieved to get the space back.
  • Not quite 5mos yet but we are working on getting dd used to not being in her swing/chair.  She sits up/forward in it now and I am afraid she is going to fall out.  She seems to be outgrowing it as well.  Maybe try putting her other places and put it away (especially if you need the room.  i can't wait to put hers away).
  • I'm so torn on this.

We rarely use it, but we do put him in it weekend mornings & he swings happily for about 20-30 minutes.  & sometimes naps in it.

But it's massive & with the jumperoo in the living room now, it feels like the swing should go.

    This exactly.

  • I haven't used the swing for a few weeks now & just packed it up last night.  He just wasn't fitting well in it anymore, even though he was below the weight limit.
  • We still use it. She takes her naps in there.
  • We just took it down the other day.  Now I am trying to sell it on craigslist so I can buy a high chair for her without having to spend much money.
