Lasinoh vs Medela pumps...is Medela much faster?

I am using the Lasinoh double pump.  It seems like it takes forever, even on the highest speed, but I have no frame of reference as far as timing.

Can anyone tell me if the Medela pump is much faster or is it likely my milk production (or lack thereof) that is causing this extended time?  My son is having trouble latching on and I may have to pump more than anticipated.  If the medela is that much faster, I may have to make the investment.

TIA!

  • I have the double as well, and it takes me about 20-25 minutes to get 10 oz in the morning.  I just got the Media PISA because I was having issues with Lansinoh, and I get about 10 oz in 15-20 minutes.  I also get an ounce more from each side during my morning pump at work.  Works for me!

  • I have both and I love my Medela PISA much better than the Lansinoh. I do get a few more ounces of milk at the end of the day, but my biggest concern when switching was needing a more efficient pump. When pumping now, I get the same (great) suction every time, the let down feature is amazing and works well for me, and I can get the same amount if not more milk in 10-15 mins versus 20-25 with my Lansinoh pump. It was a great investment for me and I wish I would have just bought a medela from the start.
  • When I was pumping at work I could get 8-12 oz with the Lansinoh in about 10-15 minutes. I think it just depends on the person, different people respond to different pumps better.

For instance, the let down feature on the PISA does NOT work for me at all.

  • I have both and find the Medela MUCH faster and more efficient.  I also find it more comfortable.  I wish I had sucked it up at the beginning and just bought the Medela in the first place.
  • I only have the PISA, but I just wanted to add that my pump was making a funny noise at the higher suction levels, so I called Medela today and they are sending me a brand-new pump overnight (delivered on Saturday no less) for free.  I am very impressed.
