SAHM: getting things done/share your routine?

when i was working, i would dream of the day that i might be a stay at home mom and how i would have time to get so much done and even when my SAHM friends would say "i didn't have time for...", i would wonder, why... you're not working... NOW that LO is 3.5 mos old and i'm a new SAHM, i totally understand and take back all those thoughts i had before in my working life!

i'm looking to start more of a routine so i can fit in cleaning, working out, etc and would love to see what the rest of you guys are doing or what's working or not working for you!

Re: SAHM: getting things done/share your routine?

  • When he sleeps is when I "get things done"...

Ok, Ok, I'm on the bump when I should be cleaning...

  • Loading the player...
  • I clean the house 1 day a week, do laundry every day, grocery shopping twice a week, make dinner every night (I try to do the prep work during the day, so that I can just put it all together really fast after DS goes to bed).  Most things I do with DS in a sling or while he is napping.  Oh yeah and I go for a long, brisk walk every day at around 4 pm, that's the only exercise I get.
  • mine only naps on me , as of the last week or almost 2 weeks,  i really only get stuff done at night and "tiddy" during the day
  • I write a list of things I want to accomplish each day.  Can you tell I'm type A?
    J - 9/6/09 L and A - 1/17/12
  • I think in order to be a good SAHM you have to have a routine.   Having a schedule and structure is not only good for me but good for the baby as well.  Sometimes it feels a little like the movie Groundhog's Day because everyday is the same but I stay on top of the housework when LO naps throughout the day and have all the time in the world for LO when she is awake.   You'll eventually develop what works best for you and your family.

let me know how that goes around 5 and a half months when your little one wont nap....

  • I try to get one major house cleaning project done a day. I usually am able to accomplish this during one nap. ?I try to also get out once a day to run an errand. ?I do this in the am usually. ?I prepare dinner during her 3pm nap and then I sit her in her hc when I make dinner and talk to her about what momma's doing. ?Its like our own cooking show. ?LOL. ?

Then I'll have to do it when she goes to bed at night, like I said, we'll just adapt to what works best for my family.
