I was just thinking that I don't know William's blood type. I checked all of the hospital papers and pediatrician papers but it doesn't say. I'm going to ask at his 4 month appt.
I know because I'm O neg and dh is O pos. and I had to have the rh shots just in case she was a pos.while I was pg. After she came they said she was O neg as well and I didn't need the rh after birth shot.
They told me at the hospital because DS had pretty severe jaundice and his nu,bers werent coming down. A last resort would have been a blood transfusion so they had to get his blood type. We didnt have to go anywhere near a tranfusion though, thank god!

We found out at the hospital. And I was deeeelighted he has my blood type despite it's recessiveness (O+). DH is B-. FIL said DH should ask for a paternity test. Thank goodness, MIL quickly pointed out that SHE'S O- and that it's obvious that DH just had her O recessive trait hidden in the background waiting to be shared. He also managed to get my blue eyes despite DH's entire side of the family having brown.
It's the little things that make me happy - he's otherwise a mini-me of his father. Which is really adorable - I just like the little bits of me peeking through.

How did you find out LO's blood type if you know?
When LO got sick & was at the hospital his blood run to determine his type. He is the same as me, & DD is the same as DH.
I don't know what his is, but I would like to find out.
I did not even know my blood type until I got pregnant! I asked at the hospital after DS was born but they said they don't do that routinely so basically it sounded like I would have to pay to have his blood checked? I asked the pedi too and she said she did not know. Shouldn't that be standard?????
Well then I have the LO that is different. I'm A+ (found out from donating blood a few years back) and LO paperwork from hospital states she's O+. DH must be O+ then, he doesn't really know.
Until a few years ago, I thought I was A+ since my baby book said so. In fertility testing, found out I was A- and DH was O+ so I had to do the rhogam thing. My mom's blood type was actually on the bracelet that I wore that is now in my baby book confusing all of us. Once DS was born, I asked about the second shot but they informed me he was negative so I didn't have to have it.

Actually, your DH could be A- or A+ or B- or B+. He just can't be AB- or AB+.

Yep - this. My parents are both A+. My biology teacher mother is always super excited about being able to use me as her little example that to As can make an O.
Re: Do you know LO's blood type?
I found out at the hospital. I asked because they usually do a compatibility check and they did write it n the paperwork for me.
I know because I'm O neg and dh is O pos. and I had to have the rh shots just in case she was a pos.while I was pg. After she came they said she was O neg as well and I didn't need the rh after birth shot.
They told me because of the rh factor - I'm O- and DH is AB+, so they had to check to see if I needed another rogham (sp?) shot. DS is O-.
He is most likely B+ as As & Bs or AB are dominant over O. But it's good to find out, as it's important for medical emergencies.
I'm O+ and DH is A+, so DS is A+.
What an interesting fact! Thanks!!! I'll still find out for sure though lol.
