From the types of posts there seems to be a really interesting variety of working moms on here, which I think is cool. So, tell me, what do you do, and what do you like about it (hopefully you like it).
My background is strategic communications with an emphasis on media relations, mostly in the arts. Right now I manage a client service (creative) team at a large, non-denominational church of about 15k. The different areas of the church are my "clients." It is the most fun environment I've ever worked in, and so freeing. Anything goes dress code wise, and nothing is blocked on our internet. Also, I love my boss.
Re: I know it was asked a while back but What do you do?
Life insurance Internal Wholesaler
I don't love it, but the money's great. I love the end of the month commission checks. Nice! I will likely give it up though after dc#2 and stay at home for a while before getting a pt job somewhere. Too bad pt isn't an option here.
Human Resources for an investment banking firm.
I enjoy parts of it and there are parts that aren't so fun.
This is actually funny because I was going to post about this today. I don't think anyone in my office knows what I do. I was in a vendor meeting on Tuesday and the guy asked my role in the company and everyone stopped and looked at me like "Yeah, what is your role?!" Ha. I have always done a lot of sales but I used to have a ton of other jobs here, too. When I went on my Mat. Leave, I trained others to do my "other" roles such as product invetory analysis, purchase reporting, taxes, etc. And when I returned, I never got any of that stuff back. My boss said that he actually decided he wanted to have me back in marketing/sales FT. So, I guess that is what I do. I also assist in Admin if I am needed and spend a lot of time working with new employees doing sales trainings and employee education.
I love what I do (even if I don't know what that is everyday). The dress is based on your role. I can wear whatever I want fitting to what I am doing that day. I love the flexibility and my coworkers.
My baby is two!!! Baby girl 9/17/09
My other baby is still a baby! Baby Boy 11-30-11
I am a criminal defense attorney. I actually just started my career the beginning of this year as I just graduated lawschool in May, studied/took the bar & had a baby. (it was a year of accomplishments!)
I really like my job because I am not tied to my desk all day. I am always in court/running around doing interviews, hearings, etc. I am the new attorney in the office though, so it is still very stressful & I am still doing all of the work that my bosses dont want to do. Also, since I am just starting out, I am constantly insecure that I am not doing everything well (although there has been no indication that is the case).
I teach 8th grade social studies and sex ed.
I love my job! It's never boring, I love the kids, I get to be creative, I don't sit behind a desk and it's fun.

Day Three
I just switched jobs internally this week. My background is IT Audit. My new position I'm still learning but it's more related to IT Security and Controls. At a big bank.
I like the fact that I can WFH, and my new co-workers seem great so far. It will be a huge change of pace to not be an auditor anymore - I got to the point where I hated being the bad guy all the time.
I work at a public relations agency - media relations, marketing/promotions, strategic planning, event planning, etc. for local, regional, and national consumer brands and nonprofit/arts organizations.
I enjoy my job a lot - it's different all the time and I enjoy great perks and flexibility.
I am a Billing Administrator, I do administrative work such as answer phones and greet people/ Light filing.. But the majority of my responsibility is Billing and Collecting. I love what i do, however i could deal with a better working atmosphere! The women here are soo caddy!
I also work as a server on the weekends at a restaurant... I love working there the atmosphere is soo different its amazing! so its a nice break from my 9 to 5!
My twins are 5! My baby is 3!
DS#2 - Allergic to Cashew, Pistachio, Kiwi
DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame
I am a Senior Staff Accountant at a large financial company.
I like what I do. I dont mind the work, and my boss is so flexible with me so I cant complain. I WFH 2 days a week and have the ability to come and go as I please on the days I am in the office, as long as the work gets done. I recently got promoted, and I am finding out that I am not a huge fan of managing people! But it is what needs to be done to move up and keep making more money!

Paryoll for a large not for profit hospital.
Over all it is a great place to work (we actually just had a department meeting to announce that we made the list for IN best places to work for the second year in a row.) Good pay, benefits, and a pretty family friendly company.
Higher Ed. administrator at a small private art college
I love my job, I get to work with students and the people I work with are fun, young and interesting. It is a very laid back, casual office and I could wear jeans every day if I wanted to. We sort of come and go as we please, and no one micromanages us; we are all one-person departments, so it is pretty obvious if you aren't getting your work done--we have all proven ourselves, so the Sr. Admin. leaves us alone.
The only downsides are the craptastic pay and the lack of career potential. There is no where for me to go here, if I want to advance in my field I'll have to leave. I would love to be a Dean someday, but for some reason they only take you seriously if you have a Fine Arts degree here. My M.Ed. is not even acknowledged.

Sales Manager for a golf course/banquet center. Basically a glorified bridal consultant. (lol)
My title is Business Service Specialist; I work for a non-profit quasi government agency. By job is to meet with employers and help them with hiring and training needs. (Geez that makes it sound so simple... lol).
I generally like my job b/c its pretty flexible, I get a lot of freedom, and I don't have to be in my office all of the time.
Aviation Resource manager in the Air Force; there are three areas of my career I can work in. I work in the airspace and flight scheduling office; I build the flying schedule for the base, schedule and maintain the airspace, monitor flying hours allocated to us by the government, coordinate military flyovers, any special exercises our wing is to take part in...its alot of fun.
I love my job, i even like the air force but I don't always like the annoying things that go along with the military (pop up deployments, TDY's, fitness standards..only after having kids, they don't give you enough time to get back into shape, kissing but to the higher ups, which i am really bad at doing LOL )
Critical care registered nurse for a local hospital. I work in a med-surg intensive care unit. I love my job most of the time....it's emotionally and physically draining but rewarding.
I have an awesome supervisor and coworkers so that gets me thru it
Research scientist, primarily oceanography.
Fund development with high-end gifts in a large non-profit
Like: am helping people pretty directly through my work, get to work with lots of high-powered, interesting people, know lots of the inner workings of our community, good variety, good working environment, good benefits.

I smile & sell stuff.
But not on a corner.
I'm a TV producer with a national show. It can be great at times but here in Canada, unlike the US, the pay is pretty average and opportunities to move up are limiting.
I got my Project Manager Professional credential with the idea I'd leave TV and move into PMing full time for another industry. The pay is better and so are the growth opportunities. I have been applying for jobs and have had a great response (had to turn a few down already) but now that I'm PG i'm going to stay at my company and take advantage of the year mat leave (well maybe 8 months) since as a PM i'll likely be contract and not have that perk. I'll reevaluate my choices a year later (after I do my time for the top up i'll get while on mat leave).
