Success after IF

***MrsBabbsy & Alchris***

Just really checking in, wanted to hear how Babbsy was doing and whether there were any new developments.  I'm feeling pretty good, I think the lecithin is helping and the pain has subsided quite a bit.  Another thing I did was stop sleeping with a sleep bra and nursing pads.  I'm just wearing regular cotton tops to bed and trying to keep a cloth diaper handy to mop up the inevitable leaking.  It's not ideal b/c I still leak a lot but I think having more airing out time is also really helping.  And the saline wash, while hard to keep up with, is helping a bit too.  I seem to have some healing going on.  I've also been trying really hard to not go too long between pumping sessions at work.  Easier this week b/c I'm not traveling but it's still difficult when you get working on something and realize it's been 4 hours since you pumped...

As an aside this whole thing has gotten me taking my whole vitamin regimin again and I think that's also improving my overall health.  I always feel better when I'm taking my vitamins and this is no exception.

So that's my update.

  • I was just going to report in today:) I still have a tiny lump, but overall no pain and I am feeling empty again. I am pumping a little more again.

The mastitis seems to be completely gone!!! Just that one little lump to worry about.

Oh an my sore has finally HEELED!!!

I think the lecithin is definitely helping! I plan to write a blog entry about all the tips and tricks, herbs and schedule:)

Alchris you have helped a ton! Thank you again!

  • Score two points for lecithin!  Woo hoo!!!

Wow, GypsyEsq, I'm impressed you slept with anything over your breasts at all.  Mine were free to the world, no PJs or anything, LOL.  (No worries, they've been well-covered ever since, hee hee.)  I imagine your leaking will slow down soon.  The good news there is that your milk is flowing (think "flowing" in a drawn-out flowing stream way). :)

It sounds like the saline was a great idea, and yes, pumping frequently is crucial crucial crucial!

Speaking of vitamins, I mentioned calcium and Vitamin D the other day, but you'll need magnesium in there too for absorption if you don't already have it in your calcium pills. :)  And I'm sure you know to take calcium separate from meals and separate from iron.

Mrs.Babbsy, that's EXCELLENT!!!  Thank goodness the mastitis is gone, and I'm so glad the sore is too.  It's sad how one little lump is "just" one little lump, right?

I'm just so thankful it took just a few additional days for each of you...days of pain, I know, but that it's all but over now.  Keep nursing and pumping to prevent it from reappearing, at least as severely.  I wouldn't completely stop taking lecithin for a while if it were me, and drink plenty of water and/or tea too. :)

You're both very welcome.  Thanks for the update. :)
