Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Sick or teething?

DD has started coughing this week.  I don't think she is doing it because she found a new noise because she does it while she is sleeping.  She doesn't really have a fever, maybe about 99.4.

We called the dr and they just said to keep an eye on her.  She is eating normal, but sleeping a little more.

What makes me think it might be teething is that she has been sucking her bottom lip and chewing on everything a lot more.

I just wish I knew what was wrong so I could make her feel better :(

Re: Sick or teething?

  • DS is the same and I've decided it's a combination of the two :-).  I know that doesn't help much but I think one of the worst parts of motherhood (for me at least) has been that even when I know, I can't really do anything about it!  We have a humidifier on, I used saline and the snot sucker to make sure his nose was clear (less coughing).  We have teethers, cold wash cloths etc.for the teething.  I feel like we're doing everything we can and it still kills me that he feels bad :(

I hope your LO feels better soon!

  • For the week in between getting tooth 1 and tooth 2 DD had what appeared to be a horrible cold. I thought there was no way just teething could make her so snotty, but in retrospect, I'm pretty sure that what it was. She's had a regular cold since and it was nothing compared to that. So yeah, it can be pretty hard to tell but you'll have a good idea if she gets a tooth soon. DD got her first tooth at almost 5mo.
