Does your LO sit in a shopping cart?

Lily can sit supported very well and has great head control. I am thinking about trying her in a shopping cart because she hates sitting in her carseat when we go shopping. I have a shopping cart cover, but it is FREEZING here. Should I take her into the store in her carseat, then get her out and put her in the cart? Sounds like a lot of trouble. But, I usually end up taking her out of the carseat in the store and carry her around anyways.I have heard it is hard to get them in an infant carseat if it's in the car. Plus, then she would be exposed to the cold air while we are walking into the store. What do you do?

  • While Lexi?can sit supported well, I would still be afraid that she would slip or fall forward and bang her face on the?cart. She's not sitting up alone yet and that's when I let Layla sit in the buggy.?

  • LO refuses to sit in his carrier. We carry him in wrapped in his blanket so the wind stays off of him then put him in the basket once we get in.  Usually we tuck the blanket around him in the cart to help support him and keep him warm.  He loves riding in the cart because he can see everything.
  • DS has been sitting in the cart since just before 4 months he was sitting really well assisted.  We use a blanket to carry him into the store and back to the car.  He has been sitting unassisted since 4 months 2 weeks though he hated the carseat.

  • I wear her.  No way she would be able to sit in the cart yet.  Plus she likes looking around at my level :)
  • wait, i thought you were on bumpcation?
  • we just did this last week and he LOVED it. its freezing here too so i put one of those fuzzy prams over his clothes and once he was in the cart i unzipped it and pulled it off his arm and pulled it down so it was just on his legs and around his waist...worked really well
  • DS loves his shopping cart cover now.  He loves sitting up where he can see us and everything else around him.  It is cold here (we are just north of you) and we just carry him from the car to the store with a blanket on him.  He doesn't seem to mind the cold and it doesn't hurt him.  I love not having to drag the carseat around and it takes up so much space in the cart.
