my boob really hurts

any help would be appreciated. my left boob is really tender & sore. It had a large hard lump in it (like when Im engorged) that wasnt really going down today. I rubbed, warm compressed, and nursed like crazy. The lump/hard spot is down now but my boob is still really tender & sore. Any idea what this could be? Ive had mastitis before, but it doesnt feel like that because other than the pain I feel okay.

I am thinking it is a clogged duct because guess what... I have the same freaking thing right now. It hurst so bad when LO nurses I just want to cry. I know it isn't mastitis because I had that too a few months ago and was running a 104 fever and couldn't even get out of bed... I would do anything for this pain to go away.

I have that prob occasionally and what helps me is cabbage. I put a piece of a cabbage leaf on the area that hurts for no more than 10 min and it helps. Don't leave it on too long though because it will start to decrease milk supply. hope that helps!

clogged duct I got them a lot with DD1. Try nursing so that your DD's chin is pointed in the direction of the clogged duct (does that make sense?) because that is where they have the strongest suction.

Keep rubbing, warm compress, pump as much as you can... I used to lay in a hot bath and just rub rub rub trying to get the knot out.

If it continues or keeps happening, you can take Lecithin (supplement) to help thin things out and prevent clogged ducts. Check kellymom.org for more info about that. Hope you feel better soon!
