Got a dance question

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aNnWFe5wU8&feature=player_embedded

where would ones' 4 yr old learn this? Miles wants to dance, but not ballet, tap or anything else he deems "lame".

Is there something specific I should be asking a studio?

Re: Got a dance question

  • I saw that on perez!  I would think that a lot of dance studios offer hip-hop classes nowadays.  I now that the dance studio my sis went to even had a class for boys!

Yeah that is where he saw this one! He love watching dance videos!

  • I know our studio doesn't offer much until kids get older...like 8-ish.  Almost all of them start with classes like ballet, creative movement, etc...  The video looks like hip hop type stuff to me.  I know that the park district sometimes offers hip hop for younger kids but they are shorter term classes just for fun.  Maybe check that and see if he likes it before searching for a longer term class.  Then if you can't find a studio that offers it to a group you could ask about trying to form a group or take private lessons.

  • Ok, back in the day (like when I was 7) my dance studio had "hip hop" dancing - not sure if it was called that but I think it was.  Or it was called something like "trendy" (it was NOT called trendy but some other synonym).  Maybe contemporary?  I think that was it.

I imagine most dance studios offer something like that.

  • I would think studios in urban areas would offer hip hop classes or like a street/break dancing class.
  • Yeah pretty sure when my husband asked what Miles wanted to do for his fisrt classes he wasn't thinking hip hop dance!
