DH and my brother do what's called a Muddy Buddy race. It's a two-man race that includes: mountain biking, x-country running and several obstacle courses culminating in a mudpit crawl. Oh, and about 5-10% of the people wear costume (though rarely this elaborate).
At the Start line

Entering the mud:

Leaving the mud (and no, my DH does not have skinny legs and a giant belly. That would be padding so his Care Bear costume looked 'better'):

At the finish line (notice all the people in the background pointing cameras/videos at them and laughing):

Close up of the heads (Note for next year, don't use water absorbing material in the head... kinda get's heavy when you do the river cross):

And just for "Awwww's" - My bro and his baby:

And you are willingly procreating with him.
j.k. that's amazingly funny.
One is bound to me by blood... the other I willingly selected - I don't know which is worse.
If I ever get a sticky baby boy... I'm telling you, I have had excellent experience with little boys.

This just made my day! Thank you for sharing the Care Bear glory!?
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle!
April 2011 CP @ 5 weeks
They started planning that months ago! They are entered as the "Bedrock Beasts" (to further explain, you enter the race in your selected group: mixed gender, female, youth (both under 18), senior (combined age of over 100) or Beast (combine weight of over 400 lbs)... hence the Bedrock BEASTS.
Fred and Barney here we come (oh, and I see lots of purple crepe paper in the bike's future - ala the pet Dino).
Oh, and no, they have done ZERO training... just costume work. They came in second last year to He Man and Skeletor and can just TASTE victory!
That is hilarious!
Haha that is great!! When is the race. I want PIPs when done.

First weekend in May... or at least that when they race in Richmond, VA but google Muddy Buddy. Their website lists all the races/locations this year. If one happens to be nearby it's worth just watching (and TONS of cool freebies from exhibitors).
This is for all the caterpillars that never became butterflies. And for all the butterflies that never felt the wind in their wings. And for all the hearts that had hopes and dreams of a wondrous flight together.
Is that the one yal go to? I might have to go. Sounds like fun.

If you're not too far it's totally worth going. DH does a lot of races and this is one of my favorites. It's at a campground/National Park just outside town and everyone there is very mellow, great music playing, etc. And some of the costumes and the judging contest is really funny.
Oh - and Aveda (i think it's them) is one of the sponsors and does free haircuts for a donation to a nonprofit... I don't risk more than a 'trim' but still...
Yeah, I just lizzed all over my desk chair.
That's amazing!
Richmond is only about 20 mins from me. Sounds like we will be attending.
