Would you push this issue or just wait it out? re: eating

Michelle has been sick for over a week now.  She's been nibbling here and there all day long & has yet to eat a meal.  Yesterday for lunch I made her favorite chicken nuggets & tator tots.  She had 2 bites of chicken nuggets & thats it.  I just made her a grilled cheese and she isnt touching it at all.

She's been eating goldfish crackers, dry cereal and those cracker sandwiches...cheese & pb and other kinds.   Thats it other than tons of water, juice and her twice daily ovaltine.

I just dont want this to become a habit.

  • If you think she's feeling better, I'd ease up on the nibbles and stick to the meals.  If she doesn't eat lunch well, chances are she'll eat a better dinner if she hasn't had lots of snacks in between.  But, if she still doesn't feel well, I'd let her eat whatever she wants.  Kind of sounds like she likes the snacks more than meals to me, though.

  • DS and I are sick.  We are both off of food.  It has no taste.  We have been sick for a while.  I don't blame her, when she feels better, go back to regular food.

I totally agree. If she is still stuffy, she probably can't taste her food, but can taste the salt and sweet. P was like this when he was sick, but went right back to his normal good eating once he could actually taste it...lol.

  • I'm going to give you the same line my mother always gives me when I worry about Madelyn eating if she's been sick.

"You don't want to eat anything when you feel sick, what makes you think she's any different?"

Always puts it in perspective for me!
