Talk with me about shoe sizes

DD is finally wanting to wear shoes.  I have no clue what size she is supposed to be in. I think she is wearing a 4 now....does that sound about right?
Thanks!!!

Re: Talk with me about shoe sizes

  • I went to Stride Rite and got C sized about a month ago.  He was a 5.5.

I would get her sized and then you can get shoes elsewhere (Kohl's, Target, etc) where they are much cheaper.

  • I would take her to a specialized children's shoe store to get measured.  You will pay a bit more but you will find shoes that fit your child's feet perfectly. For example our DD has narrow feet so a lot of shoes don't fit well they generally have DD try on 3/4 pairs and then suggest which are best fit.
  • That size sounds about right. DD's first pair of shoes at 1 year were a size 5.5. I recommend getting your LO's food measured for a proper fit.

  • Go to a shoe store and get her measured, I have no clue why you would just guess.
  • Striderite.com has a shoe size thing that you can print out and use to measure the foot length and width, type it in and it will tell you what size to buy.  It is accurate and easy.
  • Definitely measure, I was surprised at how big DD feet actually were when they got measured, I was totally lowballing!  Pedipeds and Preschoolians also have online tools to print out and get a measurement.
  • It's definitely worth taking her to the shoe store to get measured.  I tried guessing and was 2 sizes off!!!
