Hey ladies! I am over at the 0-3 board but used this board a lot during my pregnancy (GD).
I have a good friend who has been placed on bedrest at 20 weeks. I want to send her a bed rest survival kit. Any suggestions as to what I should include?
Thanks and best of luck to all of you with your pregnancies!
Re: Bed Rest Survival Kit
*Magazines
*Baby catalogs
*My mom decorated a cute water bottle for me
*Maybe make her a cute pillow case? or a blanket?
*Cute pajamas/slippers
*Puzzles (word search, etc)
*A good book
*DVDs
*Candy (if she doesn't have GD)
*Ive used those wisp thingies to brush my teeth if I eat something and dont want to get out of bed to just brush my teeth, they're portable and nice.
my mom also got me a sleep mask and i love it.
Im looking next to my hospital bed to see what all I have in my bag of tricks to keep me occupied and I have:
Lotion, Moistened face wipes, gum, listerine spray, fresh fruit (apples & clementines), granola bars, peanut butter crackers, honey wheat pretzel twists, chocolate, crossword puzzle book, word search book, brain teaser book, magazines, a journal, Knifty Knitter and yarn (https://tinyurl.com/yd4xogb), my real bamboo knitting needles and yarn, a needlepoint craft, an electronic sudoku game, books, tv series on dvd, a heating pad and a laptop pillow (https://tinyurl.com/ycjc2wn) This helps so you can use your laptop on your lap w/o it getting too hot, nail polish & file
This stuff has lasted me for going on 7 weeks of strict hospital bedrest, I know its a kinda long list-- HTH!
nobody's done this for me, but I'd read it once and thought about how awesome it would be. wrap up small gifts that she can open once a week/day, ect.. This will give her something to look forward too. It can be things like a card where you write a story about the two of you in it, a baby toy or outfit, book, movie, ect. Bedrest gets boring and one of the worst feelings is that nobody remembers you, thinks about you, ect. Having something like that reminds you of a loved one.
Also, showing up once every other week for lunch (you'll have to bring it!) is a wonderful gift. And be prepared for her to chat your ear off when you do. I think it's wonderful that you are doing this and she will appreciate it for the rest of her life!
**oh, and one of those foam things to put on a bed to make it more soft...priceless!
- lotion
- facial and body wipes (keeps you fresh when you don't feel so fresh)
- favourite snacks
- crosswords, sudoku, brain teasers
- magazines
- books
- if she has a laptop or portable DVD player or is resting on the couch, DVDs
- travel games - she can play them with guests
- hand held games - my father lent me his iTouch and I swear it saved my sanity
- manicure stuff
- FOOD, especially if she's in the hospital. Their food sucks.
- knitting/crocheting/cross stitching stuff. If she doesn't already, get her an instruction book.
- scrapbooking supplies
- gum
- Brush-Ups
- a long-lasting video game if she has a game system (personally, I love the Lego games for the Wii)
- learn a new language cassettes/CDs
- see if you can call her favourite hairdresser for a house call
- speaking of hair - a silk pillowcase! It helps prevent the knots from rubbing her head all over the pillow all day.
- makeup and a mirror. Putting on my makeup every day helped me feel "normal"
- comfy clothes.
