Pin, JOEBunny, Bubbs other sewers

What sewing machine do you have and do you like it?  I am sure Pin has something out of my range but still asking, lol.

My sewing machine is totally f'ed up, I called Singer and they think that the timing is off and I am leaning towards getting a new machine instead of having it fixed even though her opinion was that it is a good machine and probably worth the price to fix even if it cost the same as a new machine in that range.  So...I am leaning towards an embroidery combo machine but not sure.  Any thoughts?

  • Oh~ They're all sewers! I wondered why the rancid stench!
  • Loading the player...
  • a big ole stinky hole in the ground? rude! har.
  • I have something called a Euro something or other.  I really like it.  They sold it at Target, but it has been 5 years.
  • What is your budget?

I have a Singer (2 actually) that I use often and have never had a problem

One I got at Target over 5 yr ago and one I got from a sewing machine store.

I would go to a sewing/vacuum shop and try them out. I paid $400 for the Singer I use when my work horse is in the shop. Does everything I need it too and works great.

  • I just got a Brother innovis900d for my b-day and love it. I upgraded from a $100 Brother, and it's like going from a Honda to a BMW.  DH bought it at a local shop that was slightly higher than online stores, but I can take as many sewing/embroidery classes there as I'd like for free. For me, that was worth $$$ since to this point I'm pretty much self-taught, and I need lots of help.

Ditto Pin going to a local shop. They are so knowledgeable, and I like that I can take in my machine at any time for free service.

  • I have a Singer... bought it at JoAnn's on sale for $125 or $150.  basic.  good enough for me. works fine. But I've seen cheaper prices elsewhere.
  • I want to say that my budget is $200 but that I am considering a $800 Singer Futura from Costco...I like that Costco has a no questions asked for the life of the product return policy.  But I will check out some local places too.  I really would love a machine that could do fonts, I do not even need any super fancy fonts but the Futura comes with a script font.  I would love a "real" embroidery machine but I cannot justify it.  If I get the Futura it is computerized embroidery but I do not imagine buying the additional software and I doubt I would ever do a whole lot of the other designs it comes with.  I am considering the Brother that Costco sells for $399 also but am open to other machines.  I am partial to Singer because that is what my Mom always had and what my current machine is...and many older family members used to work for Singer when they were in NJ.
