I am number 14 on the waiting list and they take 8 newborns a year, so she said that my chances are very good that I will make it in for September.
This place is AMAZING. Each infant has it's own crib decorated with their name and they have their own cubby and they have a board with their schedule on it. One to three ratio. This is the first one that I visited and I feel SO much better about the idea of leaving my child at daycare. I was a wreck about the idea, and now I am much more at ease.
Thank God.. something that gives me peace of mind!
Re: IN LOVE with the daycare I just went to..
I'm glad you liked it, but just so you know - those traits shouldn't be all that rare in daycares!
My DD has her own bed, I supply the blanket. (they don't use cribs, they use beds down near the floor, which I like because they can never just leave her in the crib if they don't want to deal w/her). She also has a cubby, as well as a tray in the fridge for her food and they do individual sheets every day tracking how much she ate, when she ate, when she slept, when they changed her diaper, the contents of the diaper, etc. They also have a webcam that I can spy on DD during the day with.
So, I'm glad you liked the place, but the stuff you mentioned should be pretty standard! Whatever you decide, liking where your child is and feeling comfortable about it will go a long way to making your transition back to work easier.
A 1:3 ratio is great! All the other stuff though has been at every daycare I looked at and I looked at a lot!! : )
The important part is how it makes you feel and it sounds like you felt great leaving there. Some places I saw made me cry when I left.
I always tell everyone to spend several hours visiting a place even after you think you have made up your mind. I had a place all ready to go 2 years ago when my DD was 4 mths and I was going back to work. I visited again with her just about 2 weeks out from my return date and ended up seeing things I didn't feel comfortable with anymore and ended up doing a last minute switch! A long waiting list is a good sign though.
