NOOOOO!! The past 2 days DD has not been going to sleep for her afternoon nap. I tried for over an hour putting her in the crib and then she stands up and starts crying and I go back and try to rock her and put her back down after 5 min and we repeat this and it used to work after a while but after an hour I give up. Do you think she is trying to drop a nap or just a phase? I thought they go to 1 nap well after 1 year.

Re: Is she trying to drop her afternoon nap already??!!
I saw this post earlier on 12-24 - it looks like she may be ready to drop that second nap!

My son has been doing this off and on for the last month or so. Some weeks we are still taking two good (1-2 hour naps) and some days just one nap.
I am contemplating just trying one because of all our activities. Today, I put him down at 1 and he is just waking up now at 4.
It may be a trick! LOL. I'm not sure, but my son did this about a month ago or so? I thought I would die. Because he would become a wreck from not having enough sleep and being awake for soooo long before bedtime. But he just plain refused to take that second nap.
But! He's pretty much back to his regularly scheduled nap programming now. In fact, he's sleeping longer, for BOTH of his naps. I'm not sure what that was all about. Maybe teething? Or development milestone?
I think I've read that this often happens, but to hold on more until about 14 months for the second nap to go bye. It may just mean that they can stay up a bit longer before each nap (I think that much has proved true for us). HTH.
