So I was sitting in bed the other night and felt a THUD! I was unsure of whether it was her, or the burrito I had eaten hours before moving from stomach to intestines or something. LOL.
But, then yesterday I was downtown boston on VERY bumpy brick sidewalks. Wheelchairs and brick sidewalks do NOT mix. Plus, my chair is broken so the loaner chair I have doesn't have suspension like mine and I need a new chair. so, I'm rolling down the street going jiggle jiggle jiggle on the bricks and all the sudden I get another THUD! then another, then another.
daaaamn she doesn't like rolling over bricks either!!! I hope she gets used to it fast or learns to walk quick because living in an old city they have a "thing" for brick sidewalks. and worse then brick are the cobblestone ones. but most of those are along tourist attractions like Fanuiel Hall/Quincy Market, etc...
My insurance better hurry up and approve my new chair. They are fighting because of the suspension I asked for in the Colours Shockblade

Is reducing the risk of Shaken Baby Syndrome from the bricks and cobblestone of Boston a valid medical reason for why suspension is important??? ![]()
Actually, there are plenty of other medical benefits to suspension - it really HURTS rolling on bad surfaces and can do long-term damage to the musculoskeletal system. paying $800 up front for suspension equals the cost of 2-3 doctors visits for pain from this... or is less then the cost of 1 MRI to look at the damage, duh!!! Why do insurance companies never "get it?"
too bad she can't speak up yet or maybe if SHE told them how it affects her going suspensionless they'd listen now that TWO patients are involved??? clearly she's pissed about bricks sidewalks. I never felt so much movement! LOL! Poor kid!
Re: She doesn't like brick sidewalks.
thats awesome!!! where do you plan to go???
better to do without a baby in a stroller!!! I've often wondered how some of the local kids stay asleep on the inconsistent vibrating of bick sidewalks + frostheaves.
I used to live in the Philly burbs! - bucks county. :]
If you like history, do the freedom trail! the Sam Adams tour sounds fun! but get an MBTA pass since you'll get tired walking all over. they have visitors passes. its worth the money so you can do/see more while pregnant! and get a good map that includes T stops!
oh, and Isis maternity is at the Prudential! it's a cool baby store! Cambridge has several other boutiques if you're looking! and Harvard Square is fun!
Boston was a 2nd home to me for a while. I had a friend at Harvard and I would venture there quite frequently.
I totally dig Black Ink in Harvard Square. sadly, a lot of the corporations have pushed out the local shops...
LOL - I already have those type of wheels!!! I'm having them do it in brown faux leather instead - I have bags from Haiku and loved their fabric so the owner sent me enough to do my chair in it!
