Woooot! (I know not everyone will agree)

DH just did our taxes.  This year we're getting back $1500 more than we thought we would.  We put in new windows, and there's an energy efficiency credit!!  Yay!  I know some people say they hate getting back money b/c the government blah blah blah but I don't care.  I love it.

Too bad it's so expensive to have a baby or we'd buy something fun. Stick out tongue

  • We're getting back faaaaar less than last year (first year with a baby and we bought a house) but we're still getting something. I love getting my refund I don't care about what they say either.

  • Seeing as DH & I had a 60% decrease in income from '08 to '09, I'm praying we get a big refund too. I say good for you!

  • Woo hoo! I'm getting back a lot more than I thought, too. I know some people say that it is an intrest free loan to the Gov't, but that's fine by me. I don't miss what they take out of each paycheck and am more than happy to get one big lump sum every year. I'm going car shopping with my return :)
  • We're getting back a lot more than I expected.  I'm not the world's best saver, so I always look forward to this time of year.

We're not doing anything fun with it, though.  It's going in the bank for daycare for 2 kids and our April trip to Disney (which is with DH's middle school band, so hence the not fun part). It's nice for piece of mind, though.

  • I love tax refund time!  i know some people try to get as little "back" as possible but I treat it as savings I didn't even know i had.  and yes, denial is a wonderful place.
  • I love getting a big tax return.  The small amount out of every paycheck isn't missed and would just be trifled away, but lordy, lordy do I love getting several thousand dollars in one big lump sum.  That's an amount we can actually DO something with, KWIM?
  • We are getting a TON more because we are 1st time home buyers. We are excited because ours is really mostly 'found' $$. We are padding our savings, paying off a bill, and getting dining room and living room furniture! Soooo exciting.... glad you are getting more back than you thought!

  • Thats awesome!

I was pretty disappointed with our refund, over $1000 less than last year. Sad

  • We also got alot more than expected, mainly due to the education credit for DH.  I did adjust my withholding this year though, because we are 1/2 way to being debt free (except mortgage), and I want to get it paid off ASAP.  The extra $100 in my check will be helpful.  This year was nice because I got my bonus and my refund on the same day  - we paid off 5 credit cards and my car.  As long as we can stick to the budget, we'll have the remaining credit card debt paid off by July 2011, and mybe sooner if I get a good bonus again next year or my raise is more than expected.
