Screaming for 15 minutes - should I go up?

D is sick, sick, sick (ear infection, eye infection, and general cold).  Today is my last day of work and I have a crap ton to do.  My MIL came out to watch D today.  Usually, he loves his time with her (he sees her at least once a week).  However, today, he is all about Mommy - understandably, since he's been glued to me for the past 24 hours.  MIL has been upstairs with him for about 15 minutes and I'm 2 floors down in the basement trying to work, but he has been full-fledged screaming the entire time.  I imagine if I go up, it will only make it worse, but it's so hard to concentrate and get anything done when I know he is miserable.

WWYD?

  • I'd probably give in and go up, since he's sick.  Maybe you can help MIL get him something 'special' to do...watch a show, have a popsicle, something that might distract him from the fact that you're not the one holding him?

  • Yes.

I can deal with a little bit oh whining... but full on SCREAMING when the kiddo is sick?

Everything goes out the window when a baby is sick...

  • I would go up.  If C is sick I understand that she only wants her momma.  Just get him calmed down and then get back to work.  Good luck!
  • Apparently bump posts are the magic trick, because I started upstairs as soon as I hit post (I couldn't take it any longer).  I was half-way up the second flight of stairs when he quieted, and when I peeked into his room, he was snuggled with MIL in his chair reading a book.  Whew x10000.
