Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Does your baby get a case of the whinies?

My LO has been incredibly clingy these past few days.  She doesn't want to sit on the floor, play in her walker, jump in her jumperoo---she wants to be held.  Even then she'll start fussing!

I don't think she's teething and we've already dealt with a period of separation anxiety.  What else can cause the whininess and anyone have any suggestions?

  • It could be anything.  It could be nothing, and be just a phase.  My DD gets like that, too.  She'll throw a mini-tantrum sometimes if I put her down or step away, but oh well.  She gets over it quickly.  Welcome to toddler-dom.

  • welcome to my world....that and throwing his head back a la tantrum style!
  • Oh you read my mind!! She will not do anything without me holding her. She loves playing on her foam mat with all her toys. I could leave her for hours (not that I would), and last week, I had to sit next to her on the mat or she'd whine. This week, she has to sit in my lap or standing on me to play. I can't even sit next to her! It's soooo frustruating b/c I can't get anything done! Hopefully it's just a phase. I posted a few posts down "7-8 monthers growth spurt"...I got an email this morning about 32 weekers and how from now until about 37 weeks, they go through a major developmental growth phase where they are fussy, clingy, sleep less, eat less, etc. Sound like DD to a T!
