We always talk about what we're naming our LOs! What's your name? First and middle. If there's a story to go along with how you were named, do tell!
Me:
I'm Krista Joy. When I born my parents couldn't agree on a name so they settled on Kristin (my dad wanted a Krissy bc Chris Evert, the tennis player, was really popular). About 6 weeks later a family friend was visiting for the first time and didn't hear my mom properly when she said my name was Kristin. He thought she said Krista and so he called me Krista. After he left my mom couldn't get the name out of her head and eventually convinced my dad to legally change it. They started calling me Krista at about 7 weeks but didnt legally change it till I was 4.
Middle name is Joy bc my mom was so happy I was a girl.
Re: whats your name?
Hi! I'm Allison Marie. My Dad's name is Alfio (al-fe-o, its Italian) and my grandmother's name is Alice and so they found another Al name they like. Marie is a family name- HUGE Italian family here so alot of girl's names are something Marie. DD's first name is Emma Marie....
I go by Ally since like high school.... don't know why it started.... I think I wanted to be "cool"
Melanie Lanae.
My mom found it in a book and liked it. I think I read somewhere it literally means dark haired beauty or something along those lines.
Emma.
I wasn't given a middle name. My maiden name is now technically my middle name I guess.
My parent didn't find out if I was going to a be a boy or girl, if I was going to a be a boy my name would be Daniel. Trivia: Rachel on Friends named her daughter Emma and if it was a boy was going to be Daniel.
Rachel Leigh. My parents' names are Ray and Cheryl- I asked them if they just put their names together, and they said no, but people asked the same question when I was born. They said they just liked the name. Not sure why they chose Leigh for the mn.
My name means innocent like a lamb, or something like that. It makes me giggle
Luv me some Emma.... haha
Nicole Elizabeth.
Nicole because my Mom always liked the name ever since she was young and Elizabeth after my Mom & my Great-grandmother on my mother's side.
Anna Mary
I was named after my father's mother who passed away when he was only 16. I like to think that we have a connection since we share her name
Kristin Jeanette
Kristin because my mom liked it and Jeanette after my dad's aunt who died of breast cancer in her early thirties. I actually love my name
Bar tab = $156,000, Bus to Foxwoods = $0, Puking in the Stanley Cup = Priceless
Pretty name!
Mary Elizabeth
My grandmother's names were Mary and Elizabeth, but according to my mom, I wasn't named after either of them. ??? My mom really liked the name Mary Beth. I dropped the Beth by high school, but now I wish I kept it.
Claudia and we don't use middle names in my family, so I made my maiden name my middle name. My mom wanted to name me Sara (after her grandma) but my dad thought it was too plain so he actually picked Claudia and my mom said ok. (her name is Cecilia)

Hi, I am Megan!
My mom was going to name Nicole the whole time until she saw my face after birth. I am glad I was named Megan because I have 2 best friends named Nicole, lol.
family graphics
Laurie Ann - The initial L runs through the females in our family - my mom is Lucille, my maternal grandmother was Laura (I'm named for her), and my maternal great grandmother was Lucy. Our LO's name will begin with the letter L also. Ann because my paternal grandfather's name was Anthony.
Jennifer Leigh
Standard 1979 name.
For serious though, I was named after my great grandmother whom everyone called "Jenni." My parents assumed her name was Jennifer so they named me that. Then about 2 months later, they found out her name was actually Genevieve and everyone just called her Jenni.
So my name should have been Genevieve... and I wish it was! I think it's so special that I would have shared a name with her (even though everyone calls me "Jenni" and I am technically still named after her.)
Carter Robert 7.18.08 | Brynn Sophia 5.24.10 | Reid Joseph 9.10.12 | Emerson Mae 1.27.14
Christine Suzanne (Chrissy for short)
I am named after my great grandmother Crystal and my aunt/godmother Suzanne. When I was little my dad called me Chrissy-Sue. That stuck for a LOOOONG time! Dropped the Sue by middle school, and decided to go by Christine when I entered the working world (I thought it was much more professional
)!!
Mine is Stephanie Marie
the story:
I was named after my grandfather and mother lol...
Stephan is my grandpa...Maria my mother. however since I was neither a boy or a JR they decided to play with spelling and gender use lol...
Mine is Oriana Lissette... My parents named me after some famous poet. I don't know who she is though. lol
Theresa Marie. My mom insists i was named after her aunt, who died the day before i was born, and my dad always insisted they just liked the name. I get the feeling my mother did some stealth naming and told my dad about it afterwards. I'm glad i got a semi-unique first name, though, because Marie is the standard catholic girls middle name LOL!!!
Jaime Leigh
this is how my mom tells it. she watching a pregnancy work out video and fell in love with jamie lee curtis, but didnt know how she spelled it. she thought since janet leigh was her mother thats how they spelled it. and she also thought jaime was right also.
even though i see these spellings all the time now i had a rough time growing up, trying to explain how to spell my name. i remember when i came into the service i had to one line EVERYTHING and put the correct spelling and initial it.
Sarah Gene..
Men in my family have the middle name of Eugene, so it was a family name, hence the spelling.
I'm a Jessica L
No middle name, just middle initial.
My mom's name is Lynne, My maternal grandmother's name was Lillian, and my paternal grandmother's middle name is Lee so they just gave me a plain ol' L in honor of them.
Zoey Emma 08.18.10
Thank you!!! I always liked it. Though it was always funny in school because when substitutes called out my first name from the roll sheet I never answered
My name is Kimberly Nicole.
Kimberly was a name that my parents liked. My biological father's name was Lee. He was a narcissistic creep, and he wanted a name with a "Lee/Ly" in it. (My brother is Andrew Lee.) In spite of it, I really love my first name. Nicole was just another popular 80's name they liked. I don't hate it but won't use it in any way if I have a daughter.
Jennifer Lynn
Boring name, I was one of 4 Jenny's in my first grade class of 60, two of us had the same middle name as well. The name came from my dad. He had an ex-girlfriend name Jennifer and he always liked the name after that. What sealed the deal was my dad had/has a nurse in his office named Jennifer that both my parents really liked. Lynn is my mom's good friend's middle name.
Same here but spelt...Megan Marie!
Hi, I'm Brandy Elizabeth. My mom swore she was going to name her first daughter Brandy after the song "Brandy you're a fine girl" since she was a teenager and she managed to talk my Dad into it. I always thought the Elizabeth was after her (even though she goes by Betsy) but she told me recently that they picked it because they couldn't find anything else to go with Brandy.
If LO is a girl we are seriously considering Kira. I love it!!
BLOG: The Quinntessential Mommy
Amye Jean.
My mom thought I was a boy.. until I came out. She happened to hear the song " Amy whatyou gonna do.." liked the name and gave me the french spelling to be diffrent.
Alissa Marie-
My 'sperm giver' wanted to name me Candy...and my mother (who already knew what I was) told him that if it was a girl she would name it and if it was a boy he could name it.....now I cant ever find anything personalized
Another Jennifer Lynn
My parents just really liked the name and apparently so did everyone else in the early 1980's
Samantha Jean
i was supposed to be a boy up until i was born. my dad was watching bewitched in the waiting room.
my middle name.... i have two aunts both named jean, and neither of my parents know which one i was named after.
