You have a PM. Andalso, for whoever wrote the PTA Patty blog entry, PTA Patty is actually a NIGHTMARE for 90% of teachers. Helicopter parents are never, ever a good thing for even the best teacher.
I'm not following you - but as a former teacher, if I figure it out I will surely have something witty to say.
::hated teaching for the record, kids were great but I couldn't stand the parents or the principals/many of the other teachers::
In the HAB blog.. "She is a teacher?s wet dream and the other parents worship the ground she walks on. " I think if you replace "wet dream" with nightmare it'd be more accurate.
I know exactly what you mean, but I am very lucky to have a semi-supportive principal. But the parents and co-workers are a little too much here in the 'burbs. What did you teach?
I taught Gr 1 for 2 years and Gr 3 for 5 years. My first students are all in university now and friends of mine on Facebook - talk about surreal.
I was 23 when I started teaching. It was rough. SAHM- FROM HELL and a really whacked principal. It was so bad, the Superintendent stepped in and I reported directly to her instead of the nutbar woman.
I found that teaching just swallowed my soul and did nothing for my passion in life. Fortunately, I went back to school while I was teaching, for design and 8 years ago, I walked away from the classroom never to look back.
I have not regretted the decision for a single second.
I do agree though - I know the HAB who wrote it and I think that she thinks that these PTA Patty's are the ideal but I always tell everyone that the guide to winning the hearts/minds of your child's teachers is to give them wine/booze at Christmas and the end of the year!!!!
I had no idea you taught! I've heard of some major whackadoo superiors, which is why I am hunkered down at my building and praying the guy doesn't leave.
That is incredible that you went for what you wanted in life. Luckily for me teaching music so far has been incredible. Every 30 minutes is something different and I'm always engaged and on my toes.
Also, in our school policy it states that teachers can not except straight up money OR booze. That is just criminal.

*butting in because I'm nosey like that*
One last day of school, after a horrendously hard year, my room mom gave me booze. I could have kissed her.
lol. Maybe it's a Canadian thing? How's the need for music teachers in Canada? I might need to move...
