i got some disposable place mats from BRU that have adhesive on them, so i just stick them to the table (kind of around the side and under in case he tries to chew on it) and put his puffs or whatever on it.

We gave him Puffs one night, then as we were leaving we saw the mess and realized we were "those parents" that were leaving behind the big mess (DH and I have both waited tables so we're pretty sympathetic).

Yep, we just put them straight on the table. I try to do a quick sweep of the floor and table before we leave, but I also leave a bigger tip since they have to clean up the rest of our mess.
