question about saved pictures

DH was going through our pictures and asked me why some shots I have a bunch of why I don't just pick out the best and delete the other that I will have more space on the flash drive and asked me why I kept them. Not sure why I just like some yes some are bad shots so should prob delete them.

Do you just save the good ones and delete the not so good so you don't have a bunch of one pose ?

Re: question about saved pictures

  • DH has a separate hard drive with just pics of DD on it. It's a 1-terabyte drive and there are about 4000 pics on it so far with plenty of room to spare. He has no plans on deleting any of them.

  • I save pretty much every picture
  • I know what you mean I used to save everything but it made it really hard to find the pictures I wanted to see so I started deleting the really bad ones and keeping the good ones in a file by date then the really, really good ones I transfer to a file to go back later and edit but I keep them all on an external hard drive so it doesn't take up disk space and I also back up online.
  • Technically bad photos (out of focus, blurry, bad lighting, etc.) or photos where his eyes are closed, etc. I delete.  There's no reason to keep them.

Everything else I save.  I've gone back to newborn shots recently and photos I used to hate I now love.

I tend to share his happier photos or photos where I like the composition, etc.  However, when I go back and look at older photos I find photos that remind me of that time period and are so "him" at the time.  He's not always a happy baby and sometimes snap shots (where I'm not trying to get a technically perfect photo) are nice because they're more "real."

I am trying to delete more though because in the end I really do not need thousands of photos of him.

  • I save the ones I like, not necessarily just the good ones. I delete all pics that are blurry/out of focus. I backup on an external hard drive. Sometimes if I take a bunch of the same pose, then I will weed out my favorites and delete the rest.

I do this same thing. I don't like to keep too many of the exact same thing because they seem to start running together.
