Babies: 9 - 12 Months

XP - Who's 7 month old is not sitting yet?

Anyone anyone?? Smile

Anywho, DD tries but falls over even when trying to tripod. I'm not worried but it'd be nice to have her sitting (DS sat at 5-6 months) cause she hates laying on her back and literally throws herself out of her Bumbo now Stick out tongue

Yeah, I posted this earlier on 3-6 without looking and wondered why no one responded. DUH. The boards being split confuses me, lol.

  • I feel your frustration.  DS can sit, but he is six months today and can't roll over ? no, scratch that, he doesn't even TRY to roll over!  It's very frustrating even when I tell myself that every baby develops differently, and he is really just fine.  So....I'm not in the same situation exactly, but I know just how you feel.

  • DS rolled pretty early but had no interest in in sitting up..only wanted to roll and rock on all fours..he just started sitting up on his own an doing it really well at 8 months. Now he's a crawling machine! haha.

  • If I put him in a seated position, DS can only sit for 10-20 seconds by himself before he keels over.  He can't get into a sitting position on his own at all.  (Sorry, I wasn't sure which you were asking about.)

  • DD was not sitting, so I sit her up and put pillows around her. Every day she is getting better. Before she would sit, I sat her in my lap with a toy- after a week or so she was able to sit on her own for a few seconds. I also sit her up while DH holds her and I position her legs...it seems to have worked.

    Good Luck!

We do this a lot too. She sits up a lot and trys so hard to pull herself up when she's on her back. Poor girl!! I know she wants too!

  • I just tried this morning with Ava (Lauryn has been sitting) and she can sit for a little before tipping over.  I sat behind her to catch her.  I have to position her just right or she will tip right over.  But if it makes you feel better, she is not rolling from back to belly at all.  A couple weeks ago, she just started rolling from belly to back.  But she loves being on her back so she has no interest in rolling over.

Just wanted to say my DD is almost 8.5 months old and JUST started rolling over.  She rolled from tummy to back like a month ago, back to tummy about 2 weeks ago, and rolling across the room just last weekend.  I was starting to get worried about her not rolling (she was sitting up by about 5 months) but she did it when she was good and ready.  :o)  Your DS will too!!  And when he does, there will be no stopping him!  DD is all over the place now!

Ha! This is us exactly! He was sitting unassisted (never needed to tripod) at 4.5 months. At 6 months he hasn't tried to roll. At all. Nothing.

  • Carter can sit up if I just rest my hands on his legs - but if I let go, he immediately topples over when trying to reach for something.  Last night he was staring at something, and managed to sit unassissted for about 25 seconds - but only because he was SUPER still.

I know where you are coming from.  DD didn't roll over until she was 6 1/2 months and once she did it she didn't do it again for a week.  When she was 3 and 4 months she would try but then just stop and give up.  Just this past week she has discovered that she can roll back and try to get things.

At 4 months she was in love with her Bumbo and at 5 1/2 months she was tripodding.  Now she sits really well but still isn't into rolling as much as her age should be.  Every baby develops at their own pace and one day he may magically do it when you least expect it.

glad to see it's not just us! I can picture what your DD does exactly! Mine is like that. I've been putting her in a seated position and placing her boppy around her. She is figuring out how to sit herself up. She really wants to go from flat to sitting (like she's doing crunches). Good luck! (p.s. Our DD's are very close in age... And they had similar due dates originally! I've always thought that was neat!)
