without giving in?
DS has been doing this very often lately. He even did it at target the other day.
He does it when he is looking out the window and I make him walk away. He does it when he is playing with the remote and I take it away to change the channel. He even does it when he runs out of puffs on his highchair tray and he wants more.
Sigh. How do I stop this.. and I guess a better question, what is an appropriate age to teach him this is wrong?
Re: How do you stop a hissy fit
At this age, you just redirect.
I'd say around a year to 18 mos you can effectively curb a tantrum by simply ignoring it.
BFP#3 12/09/12 - EDD 8/11/2013 - D&C @ 12w :: BFP #4 2/17/14 - EDD 10/28/2014 - M/C @ 6w
exactly.
I'm so glad someone with an older child thinks I'm right lol. I was like, "I hope I'm not just pulling this out of my a**"
This and like pp, redirect. They are babies
You are right, and really redirection works past 18 mo, I still do it now w/my 3 yo. Avoiding situations that cause drama, and redirecting to something else interesting when you can't. You'll all be happier and less stressed.
You don't want to constantly say no, or it will lose any importance.
